Dawn of War 1 is probably my favourite game of all time. They released a remaster a few days ago and I literally exploded.

They are giving a 30% discount for owners of DoW until 29th August as well as a 10% launch discount. This means you are getting a total of 40% off the full RRP.

Aside from upgraded graphics (and lighting), the best feature is improved pathfinding. This was one of the biggest flaws that could never be resolved even with mods.

Other features

• 64 bit
• mod support (but no steam workshop)
• 4k and widescreen support
• improved UI
• zooms out more
• contains all campaigns and content from the original, winter assault, dark crusade and soulstorm

There are negative reviews on steam to read. Some points I gathered: graphics not good enough or they missed some texture or model, no custom keybinds (but gives 3 hotkey presets). If you use AHK you could do your own.

One video also mentioned a bug where your mouse might fall off the screen in a multi-monitor setup instead of being constrained. The cause is alt tabbing and needs a game restart to fix. I think I encountered this in the original, my solution was to change to single monitor only (win+P on windows).

If you've never played dawn of war and like RTS, then I highly recommend it.

  Adding one more thing I discovered. Mod support is not universal. Some mods will be broken or buggy with this version. Unification mod creators say they are working on updating to support this, which is probably one of the biggest mods for dawn of war.

  Simple mods are probably going to be fine.

  Also one of my favourite games. Excellent buy for anyone new to the series. Brings back memories of everyone in the (uninsulated) garage, CRT monitors, and many computers wired up to an old router, and LAN partying through the weekend.

  Loaded up my Warboss last night on the old game in campaign and squashed Tau Commander. Still excellent (even the old game). Path finding is a lot poorer than even I recall, so glad it's improved on Definitive. (loved a good Khrone Zerker rush or Gretchin/Choppa Boys rush). Every class is a lot of fun.

  All for giving support to the devs, but have my reservations watching some clips on Definitive on how much has actually improved.
  Quite often these go on sale after initial hype; and likely see this going bargain bin < $10 quickly (which is when I'm picking it up! 64 bit is a huge upgrade!). I'm not sure if upgrade discount is permanent or introductory only.

    It's particularly bad with the swarmy races. Only solution is having multiple control groups and spamming move into the same location.

    Actually that is a good point, I went back and realised that the introductory offer might be the 10% only. And the 30% discount for owners is ongoing since it is a separate item.
