  • Can anyone vouch for these? I'm keen on a qhd 27" as I feel like my 34" is too big for first shoot games.

Any personal feedback would be appreciated.

    • can't talk for this panel specifically, but a qhd 27" feels more than enough for shooters IMO, i def recommend it. refresh rate is great, size is plenty (especially if you're struggling to see someone far away, you can just scooch up to the monitor to see better LOL), and no VA ghosting is nice

    • Here's a review of the slightly more premium 260Hz version compared to the one in this deal.

Looks like it still has that classic IPS response time issue of struggling to return to black (powdered trailing). Will be more noticeable with darker or high contrast content, and I suspect the ZE will be worse again given the lower quality panel.

      • Yeh cheaper monitor tend to fall short on one or two things.

        • Maybe try and compare it to the older Samsung G6 VA, which is a fairly speedy QHD 240Hz monitor in the same price range on sales. Has dark smearing instead of powdered trailing but also has much higher contrast, so pick the one that works for your typical content.

          • @jasswolf: I'm eyeing this - Alienware 25 320Hz Gaming Monitor - AW2525HM

Not sure if it has any major issue as there are not many reviews online.

            • @itsmoe: Will likely have the same issues as its 360Hz predecessor. Still powdered trailing with pretty much any FHD 360Hz and below IPS at this stage.

The premium QHD 360Hz IPS has fared better, but not dramatically so.

              • @jasswolf: So what's the go? Oled?

                Or a slower Hz 25?

  • How much slower is "Fast IPS" compared to just standard OLED gaming monitor?

It really depends on your preference at this point as not many people will benefit from the difference. I know the limit of my eyes is around the 100fps mark. Some can see far beyond this, I'm not one of them.

I have an LG 42C2 OLED TV hooked up to my 6900xt and I picked up two of the AOC Q27G4 from the umart deal so I could do some spreadsheets and work from home without the burn in risk (not worried with burn in gaming as my 2016 OLED TV is still going strong, just worried about spreadsheet stuffs and bright screens).

The OLED doesn't have ghosting but due to the fast response time, I find that you need a higher fps for smoother gameplay.

With the AOC monitors, could just be in my head but I noticed slight ghosting with scrolling through text. Might be more of a pixel response time thing since it's going black to white to black whereas OLED is faster for this. Still a lot better than my MSI pro 273 monitor for this though. But for gaming, I found that I was a lot more accurate with the AOC monitors for horizon forbidden west. I am open to this being due to 4k on a 42inch OLED vs QHD on a 27inch IPS.

The downside of the AOC Q27G11E compared to the Q27G4 is 300 nits vs 350nits, HDR10 vs DisplayHDR400, 16.7 million colours vs over 1 billion, VRR vs G-sync certified VRR, 99% sRGB vs 125% sRGB, and tilt only stand vs almost fully adjustable stand.

This info would be great in the description, showing the differences between the two.

      • Is the HDR on the monitor good, or… just, you know, for the spec sheet?

        • I will have a play later. I disabled it on my OLED as it was playing up on my 6900xt.

I haven't tested the monitors much yet, I'll run a few tests to see if there is any noticeable VRR flicker. I've noticed some on my OLED TV when the frame rate dips below the VRR range, I'm assuming it's to do with BFI. Also had it on a Xiaomi 34inch monitor as well with the VA panel.

With 300 nits brightness and no local dimming, I'd argue it's there for the spec sheet

edit: someone else already said exactly this

          • @itchy scratchy: For HDR, OLED and mini LED is definitely a lot better than IPS.

The HDR settings on my Q27G4 does have better contrast than SDR, but it's not as noticeable/enjoyable as HDR on my OLED TV. That being said, Q27G4 is brighter, has wider colour gamut, better contrast ratio, etc. compared to Q27G11E.

    • A lot.

      Oled is 0.03ms response time

The Fastest IPS is like 1ms

IPS also has Horrible black levels, but No Black smearing or ghosting.

OLED has downsides 2,look up VRR flickering on OLED

it's really in testing 4ms.. which is still fast as hell but u might notice it.

But let's be real, unless ur like shroud or on a pro cod team..you are not a good enough player to need anything less than 2ms

      • What about semi pro CS2?

  • I'm waiting on the other 1440p AOC monitor to go on sale. This one has just adequate colour reproduction with an srgb of 99%. Still a good deal this one I think.

    • whats the other model number?

      • Q27G4. Still on sale at umart but OOS until late September I believe. I had to pick up one and get the second one delivered. See my post above for differences.

  • hows this against the hp 27q?

    anyone have both?

    • No, I have the HP Omen 27Q and it's not ideal, whilst the image quality is great. It flickers randomly every 2 months or so for about an hour, really annoying. It also takes absolutely forever to start up and alt tab in/out of games. Even my cheap $250 BenQ monitor from 15 years ago is faster at starting up and alt tabbing.

I missed out on the AOC Q27G4, I was impatient so i did some research and went with asus rog xg27 currently $299 at jbhifi, I like it more then the hp 27q and other models around this price. Not many reviews but what is there was very positive

Pitch forks will be out for that VA panel

      • I dont really know much but i read that they use a really fast high end panel, the characteristics of this vs IPS seemed to suit me better. Hopefully it looks good when it turns up

  • Do the Miniled model and we can talk centrecom

  • Might not be relevant to these models but I've been pretty unhappy with my 1440p AOC. Awful issues with lighting zone flashing when frame rates fluctuate at 165hz, and the HDR is objectively terrible. The only monitor brand I'd probably never buy again, fwiw. Kinda hoping it breaks so I can justify replacing it.

  • How does this compare to the following below:

    1. HP OMEN 27q 27" QHD IPS 165Hz Gaming Monitor

    2. Lenovo 27 Inch QHD IPS 180Hz Legion R27qe Gaming Monitor

    3. MSI MAG 275QF 27" 180Hz QHD IPS Gaming Monitor

maybe easier to just ask chatgpt

  • No g-sync

  • had a bad AOC in the past (12 years ago) - no real relevance today - but it's left them off my list since.

  • Would it need any standard dock if I were to connect 2 of these monitors to a laptop?

    • It has HDMI and display port.
