I no longer support the Swatch Group after this.

Honestly it's not that big of a deal. Very sensationalised. They even apologised for it. Not sure what more you are expecting.
The swatch group is actually so much better than richemeont et.al with follow up support. If you don't want to go with them that's fine, but seems a bit silly to all of a sudden stop supporting them despite them pulling it off and apologising for it.

So it is OK to be racist if you apologise?

        • -1

No it's not, but it's ok to learn from your mistakes. Not everyone is perfect and they do things to improve. Which they have done.

          • +1

@maverickjohn: If it was the mistake of some person(s) then ok. This would have had to get approved through multiple teams of people and it concerns me that no one stopped it before it was published. I would not feel confortable wearing a watch from the Swatch group after this as wearing a watch shows some of the wearer's personality. Anyway that's my personal view.

        • I mean Swatch is a huge corporation, likely with separate marketing teams for different regions of the world. They've apologies and it's likely tone deaf ignorance from a few folks in the marketing department over a deliberate act of racism. Any large corporation could make this mistake, I'd put more weight in how they respond and move forward to be honest. Not saying it's right but ruling out buying any Swatch group watch is extreme, considering how many brands they own, how big they are in the industry and frankly how many nice models they have over a wide range of price points and interests. Tissot PRX, Omega Speedmaster, Aquaterra, Longines Spirit etc.

Isn’t the model in the ad Asian himself though? Surely it’s okay then? Like when African Americans say the N word.

Not really, it’s bit like putting in a token black guy to make it all ok

I won’t support because they apologised.

But im still recovering from the last sale.

  • The black Spirit SS & the Hydro Conquest PVD would be my pick.

Grabbed the HC blue from the last sale and very happy with it.

I've always liked the hydroconquest, and this colourway in particular:
    https://www.petersofkensington.com.au/beauty-fashion/mens-ac…
(not sure where their 'red pvd' in the description is coming from, but anyway)

    • I suspect that the bezel isn't stainless steel or if it is its coated with the rose gold pvd. Hence the red pvd

I really like the Spirit line of watches, but the date placement on the 40 and 42mm versions bugs me. They took a chunk out of the 3 to fit the date in on the 42mm and replaced the 3 with the date window on the 40mm, but it's out of alignment with the rest of the numerals. They finally got it right on the 37mm with the date window at the 6 position. I wish the 37mm version with the stainless steel bracelet was part of this deal.

The spirit titanium is the only one in the line up without a date, that looks the best imo.

      • Agreed. That's a great looking watch.

you pay 4000$ for watch and still pay for shipping cost. this is ridiculous.
