  • Most meats contains 20-30% protein by weight. This has 6% protein which suggests less than 30% meat. Can anyone who has used it comment on the level of meat?

Beef mince only costs $10-12/kg, this costs about $8/kg but about $24/kg considering only the meat

Maybe it's worth it for the unspecified vitamins and minerals, or if your dog won't eat anything not covered in gelatine gravy

    • if you have a costco membership you can get 2.72kg frozen raw dog food for about $17 (comes in 12 smaller individual packets)

      • About the Costco raw food. I saw them in the freezer, are they good ? I have a very sensitive mini poodle and his stomach doesn't tolerate well with some dog food.

        • You can never know unless you buy some and test it out. I'd go out on a limb and say it's better than (almost?) anything else out there, but some people are against feeding dogs on a raw diet.

I normally start with small amounts when changing kibble, even if it's the same brand, but with the raw stuff I just gave them half a pack each and no issues at all.

    • I recently fell down this hole as well when comparing dogfood labels and noticing a trend of very low protein counts being quoted. I don't believe it tells the whole story, though you'll need to do your own research to make your own mind up. Dogs are omnivores at the end of the day, so you don't want too much protein either.

    • Ahh and just shortly after this deal was posted, another much higher quality dogfood deal was also shared.

That brand claims 90% lamb/organs/ground bone but is still only 8.8% protein.

  • +2

I initially ordered these, but after reading the reviews, I cancelled my order.
