1kg Plant Protein (Various Flavours) 3 for the Price of 2 - $99.80 Delivered @ Radix Nutrition

3for2

Choose up to 3 flavours or same. Unflavoured higher % of protein.

Not a bad deal for their already discounted plant protein. Approx $33/kg.

Tasted banana sample previously, no problems for me. Reckon it’s better than generic brands hence the deal post. Better than Blue dinosaur branded plant protein which wasn’t bad and heaps better than Coles Pea protein which was too grainy.

      I could never be vegan.

Most meat in Australia is at a minimum partially raised on crops, which are treated with pesticides, insecticides, etc from fields with lot less qc. Not to mention the heavy dosing of antibiotics and other products the animals receive. No doubt a lot of this finds its way into products for human consumption.

      • And do you know where crops come from? ~95% of a plant’s dry mass comes from carbon (C), hydrogen (H), and oxygen (O). So those cows and sheep are basically just eating air. So we should be more concerned with air pollution.

I thought about this. Research show that animal muscles don't get the same level of toxins. It's their organs like liver, kidneys, pancreas, etc.

        • Ironically the folks who insist that you avoid chemicals in the food system are often the ones screaming to eat organ meat.

          • @krunchymoses: That’s the stupidest thing I’ve heard for a long time. Anyone with half a brain wouldn’t want chemicals in their food.

            • -1

@bobwokeup: You don't really get how chemistry works huh? But at least you're 'awake'.

I'm sure someone will sell you some food that totally has no chemicals in it and you'll feel amazing.

      • You know this how? Do you have a source for this information?

    • you weren't vegan, you ate a plant-based diet

      • That's sophism. I just ate vegetables and fruits. Not even bread or pasta.

          Vegan isn't a diet

          • @Raynes: Its a lifestyle

            • @easternculture: Veganism is a strong ethical belief, if you change on a dime you were never vegan and probably went plant based for other reasons (health etc)

@Deals For Days: I didn't say I joined the cult of Veganism. I just used the technical term one used for only eating plants and no eggs, dairy, fish, meat, etc, as "veganism" (with a small v)

                • -2

@marshmall0w2: that’s literally not veganism. At best you ‘ate a vegan diet’, veganism itself is not just that act in isolation.

it’s a question of speaking English correctly lol

                      @marshmall0w2: Wikipedia

Veganism is the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products and the consumption of animal source foods, and an associated philosophy that rejects the commodity status of animals. A person who practices veganism is known as a vegan.

I’m going to guess that people who are vegan have a better idea of what veganism means than someone else. If you ate a vegan diet but still bought other animal products like leather shoes you were not vegan. Therefore, veganism is not just a diet.

Under your definition I could eat only plants but work as a butcher and I’d be vegan still.

Yes. Though tbh I didn't use animal products like leather or even feather during those times. I was actually kinda purist. Nowadays I'm back to being a normie.

This place has changed into reddit.

  • 80/74 % protein by weight (plain/flavoured), ingredients 92% pea protein, plus small percentage rice protein.

Radix is my favourite protein brand, but i only use whey so not tried this variety.

  • anyone can vouch if this is any good?

    • Also interested.

Anyone know how it compares to Amino Z and Bulk Nutrients (both good) or Black Belt (literally vomit inducing)?

      • I ordered some so can let you know. I've only tried whey from those brands. Funnily enough I actually found Black Belt chocolate just as good as AZ/BN so it's probably flavour dependent.

        • Thanks! I ended up ordering too.

I've only tried the vegan versions (lactose intolerant). I've had good/average/bad protein over the years but Black Belt was the first where I couldn't even finish a scoop. Felt so sick for the whole day.

Who knows though. Maybe flavour as you said, or maybe their whey is decent.

Compared to other plant protein yea. Rate these better than BN/AminoZ and other generic brands. Bought 6kg myself, only Strawberry and Vanilla left. They also make meal replacements which I hear are good too.

Only concern is use by date but I run through protein quickly.

      • Can you review the taste of Strawberry and Vanilla in particular in comparison to other brands?

        • Don’t remember exactly, tasted their samples a year ago. Nothing tasted bad but keep in mind it’s subjective. Worst case just mix into juice.

Dont waste your money, all protein is not the same. Depending on the plant your body wont be able to process it al. so if you take 20g you might actually be getting 10g… Its pea protein. so its shit. you wont actually get the 25g might as well eat normal food

  • Thank you OP, ordered.

  • Seems quite pricey still? Maybe preferred brand - I’ve got 2x INC plant protein 2kg from chemist warehouse for 85 delivered on eBay with 5 plus discount. Which equates to 21 per kg.

They seem to occasionally sell 2kg for 44

    • Not when it has good ingredients. I just ordered Whey Protein and paid $115 for 2kg, which I was stoked about. Might even get this one as well as backup haha

*EDIT: damn the Ozbargain community for being so quick, chocolate was available but already sold out :(

    • Is INC plant protein actually good tasting though?

      • Yeah I have no issues with the vanilla at all. I typically put in in a fruit smoothie thoigh
