I was looking for an oil dispensing sprayer, and prior posts mentioned this one as a decent one/ depends on how it’s used - only now it’s a lil cheaper.

Will see how it fares in quality once it arrives.

Overtime things end up clogging the nozzle unfortunately

Yep, had one that didn't last more than a few weeks before it crapped out.

May as well fork over the extra $1.40 for the actual one.

it's not as good as I expected. I was expecting a layer of really fine gentle mist. But the mist was too concentrated, and the pressure is too high. I can't simply be gentle when I pull the trigger as it would not really work that way.

    • The design was updated some time in the past few years. It’s gotten worse. Used to be a very fine, even mist. Don’t understand why they would update it, other than cost savings.

These glass ones from kmart are so much better - had 2 or 3 decor ones over the years and they just get clogged / messy and the air suction system just a pain. kmart type one wiht the additional pour feature is much nicer to use.

    • Thanks for your advise

Does this one spray olive oil well?

Looks like the handle may snap off - or is it strong?

    • @stdanjomcbanjo

Grabbed one from a local Kmart ( the one you linked) to test this out.

You’re absolutely right! It sprays like a MF champ!
Better than expected! Thank you! (I like that the bottle is glass as well.)

(The handle however looks like it’s a weak point - but we will see)

Now I’ll have two, if the decor one doesn’t work with oil I’ll use it for vinegar.

don't buy, it doesn't work. It squrts like a water pistol instead of sprayinig it like a mist

It's a mixed bag. We've owned 3 over the last 10 years (1 in our camper, 2 around the house). Only 1 of them had this 'squirt' problem (new), and its replacement was fine.

Really rate these as oil sprayers.

Based on the above comments I must have got lucky as I have had this for a few years and thoroughly impressed. It gets used almost every day and no clogging issues and a nice spray.

    • What oil do you use it for? Oilve oil?

I hear some folks put some water in the oil to make the spray process better?

      • Not going to work. Oil and water don't mix, so you will have two layers sitting on top of each other. Unless the bottle is vigorously shaken immediately before pumping you will be spraying either water or oil. Perhaps squirting water through the nozzle prior to getting to the oil flushes out the contaminants making it work better.

My experience is these work great when you first get them, then they start to have problems. I'm sure it comes down to cleanliness and clogs over time, It isn't just the nozzle but the bleed valve for the air on the base (though I'm led to believe there are differences between modern ones and older ones).

        • but you might be able to "cut" it with some other cooking oil(s), to make it thinner (i.e. less viscous). If you can hit upon a mix that is palatable and useful.

"common cooking oils, in order of generally increasing viscosity: include walnut oil, grapeseed oil, canola oil, sunflower oil, soybean oil, rice bran oil, and olive oil"

      • I've used olive and canola

    • I thought the same, mines pretty good, but I may have just gotten lucky. I'm guessing the tolerances on a $7 oil spray would be big enough to cause a pretty wide range of behaviours.

      • When did you get yours? probably long time ago?

        • +1

Like 2 years ago now I think?

Been using 1 of these for over a year, great product. I use various oils without issue. (EVOO, Rice Bran etc)

For those with the squirting issue, if you press softly it can sorta squirt, although with a decent press, mine always atomises the oil correctly.

Grabbing another as a spare for my spare. (kids/mrs dropped mine & it chipped at the base of the neck, waiting for it to break - lol)

    Thx OP!

  • The older design with the internal bladder actually sprayed a good mist. I bought 3 of the new design to give to family and they all squirt a stream of oil like a water pistol. Absolutely terrible. I regret throwing the old one away.

    • Yep. This. They updated the design. It sucks now. Used to be amazing. You could press the trigger gently if you wanted less. Now, if you press gently, it just squirts a jet of oil. You can only get a mist if you pump it hard; even then it’s not as uniform as the previous design.

  • Mine never worked properly. I ended up binning it.
