  • Considering how versatile Goggle v2's are, would this be worth it as a gateway into fpv?

So far any Aussie FPV stores are either out of stock in most parts, and the secondhand market has people selling ~10 year old equipment for the price they bought it or higher

both goggle and drone are last gen, but for the price i can't complain.

Was this 2k when it was released? I swear it was.

Imagine having this just a few hundred years ago!

WW2 Resistance fighters hide a drone in a barn loft, sending it up at night to count German convoys without risking a scout.

WW1 Instead of risky observation balloons, trench commanders fly it above no-man’s-land at dawn to see fresh barbed wire placements.

1800s (Napoleonic era): Aerial views of battlefield smoke plumes let generals distinguish friend from foe, something almost impossible from horseback.

1700s (Age of Sail): During a storm, a naval captain launches it from the quarterdeck to locate safe harbors hidden behind reefs.

1600s (Scientific Revolution): Natural philosophers use it to map river deltas and publish the first truly accurate estuary diagrams.

1400s (Renaissance): Florentine architects send it above cathedrals to refine dome geometry that otherwise required years of scaffolding.

1200s (Mongol expansion): Scouts employ it to trace caravan trails across Central Asia, making supply routes more predictable than ever.

1000s (Viking age): Norse navigators check from above for monasteries or undefended river mouths to target during summer raids.

500s (Byzantine empire): Engineers fly it around Constantinople’s Theodosian Walls to spot weak mortar joints without risking climbers.

0 AD (Roman empire): Legionaries use it to reconnoiter dense German forests before committing to ambush-prone terrain.

30 AD Crossing the Sea of Galilee: It could track the disciples’ boat in the storm, giving Jesus awareness of their struggle before He walked out to them.

1000 BC (Iron Age Levant): City-states deploy it to monitor harvest fields and detect rival raiding parties long before they reach the gates.

2000 BC (Bronze Age Aegean): Minoan sailors fly it to scout volcanic islands, recording smoke plumes as warnings of eruption.

3000 BC (Early Dynastic Egypt): Overseers check alignment of pyramid foundations with the Nile’s seasonal floodplain from the sky.

4000 BC (Sumerians: Farmers fly it along newly dug canals to confirm water flow patterns, ensuring their barley fields survive the hot season.

  • You could’ve had it, but I don’t know how you would’ve recharged it.

  • Avata drone only is also available for $387 https://www.digidirect.com.au/catalog/product/view/id/79777/…

    • the dji goggles 2 worth more than the price difference

      • Yeah only issue with them is they were rapidly replaced with the Googles 3 and won't work with any newer drones so this combo is kind of a dead end if you want to upgrade. Great entry price for learning FPV if you want to though…

Ive had the V1s V2s with the DJI Drone ( original large fpv ) the avata with these goggles and now avata 2 with the smaller ones. ( wasn't a brag, just to be more concrete with my opinion ).

the price and the fact its a combo is a very good price for new.. ive seen these sell for just shy of 1K for combo still and goggles alone for over $400 AUD

goggles are definitely versatile.. ive used them with full custom build FPV with the Dji FPV module. and ive attached a analog adapter to the side for the little micros to fly around the house and annoy my Wife and Pets with..

i like the new goggles but these feel so much more comfortable and love the design.

again. great starter into the hobby for sure. you crash you get up. dust off and continue.. the original avata is pretty robust.

just enjoy the hobby.. and if you have never done Manual FPV.. for god sake learn on the Sim first 😁 it is cheap and you can crash a million times before you work out if it is something you wanna do.

once you get it. and the adrenaline kicks in its hard to beat. i dont fly every day.. not even every week.. but when i do… 😩🤤🤤🤤
