I've been waiting for these to come down in price a bit so that I can trial this aluminium free deodorant. This price is better than Dr. Squatch's online store (even with their 20% welcome offer or subscription) or Amazon. If you pair with RAC 5% off gift card, then even better.

From what I can tell, this applies to their Wood Barrel Bourbon and Fresh Falls deodorant which are the only two fragrances I can see on the BigW site.

Their soap bars are discounted as well.. but $10/ea seems a bit steep for a bar of soap.

Only $15 for a 75g deodorant stick? Quite a bargain compared with those expensive deodorant sold for hefty $4 each for a tiny 150g pack!

Unfortunately small scale production of aluminium free deodorant with natural ingredients is always going to be more expensive than mass produced chemical cocktails using good old aluminium to block the sweat pores and keep the toxins inside your body. What's cheap isn't always good for you. A VPN that pays me?!!?! wow where do I sign up!!!

I think you're confusing "deodorant" with "antiperspirant" - it's the latter that has aluminium chloride in it, to stop you sweating; the former just tries (and usually fails) to mask the smell. See: just about any taxi cab driver.

Also, the Cancer Council has some thoughts on the matter:

Typically, scare stories suggest that aluminium in antiperspirants prevents us from getting rid of toxins in our sweat, which clog up lymph nodes and lead to breast cancer. But the details of this are wrong.

may be true, but the accumulation of heavy metals lead to lots of other serious medical conditions, none of them better than cancer. See Dr Hulda Clark

          • +6

@hellbin: Luckily, aluminium is not a heavy metal.

….and by Dr. Hulda Clark, do you mean the zoologist who got kicked out of the US for practicing medicine without a licence? Because I'd go to a veterinarian for medical advice ahead of her - at least they've had some medical training, even if it's on the wrong species.

Holy smokes - I'm just going through her Wikipedia. She claimed that cancer is caused by parasites, and that she could cure it by zapping it with electricity.

Can you guess what she died from? I'll give you a clue: she'd have been better off with chemotherapy…

            • -3

@jong: the classification of heavy metals from my meaning is in reference specifically to health, and not the technical properties of it as a building material. Sure, I don't think Hulda said she was perfect but to comment fairly would involve reading her book/s to know where she may have been right, with others currently in the medical field (human species) who are research this issue. nothing personal, I get it, everyone's entitled to an opinion and their use of heavy metal products, including aluminum, which I think your saying is very important to you

              • @hellbin: Again, aluminium is not a heavy metal.

No; it would involve reading that she said she could cure cancer by zapping it with electricity, and then finding out she'd died of the thing she claimed she could cure.

The doctor who claimed peptic ulcers were caused by bacteria, and then caused his own peptic ulcers, and then cured it with antibiotics? That guy (Dr Barry Marshall, an Aussie) wins a Nobel Prize.

Dumbass who claims she can cure cancer with electricity, and finds out too late that she can't? She wins nothing.

If instead of claiming she could cure cancer when she couldn't, she'd claimed she could jump between two 60 story buildings (but couldn't), she'd be a Tik Tok meme, and you'd be laughing at her.

                everyone's entitled to an opinion

Sure, but some people's opinions are demonstrably stupid. That guy who thought he could build a steam powered rocket to prove the earth was flat, and ended up smashing into the ground and killing himself?

He was an idiot, just like Hulda.

Dove aluminium free deodorants are regularly on sale at $2.50 in all big stores.

        • real deal always in the comments

    • Good point. I've dabbled in the aluminium free mitchum stuff from time to time. But I recently reached out to them to find out why they only fill the stick/tube with about 2/3 of deadorant (of which only about 3/4 is usable; the rest you have to scrape out with a knife)… they responded with words to the effect of "that's just the way it is".

According to the label, it's not actually aluminium free. It's free of something called aluminum?

I get you're probably joking, but just in case: It's not a typo - that's how the Americans spell it.

  • I've been using Noosa Basics Deodorant Roll On for a while and I'm really happy with it, bit pricey but its expected ingredients wise and free from all those cancerous, hormone disrupting, glands playing up etc ingredients. gotta be careful and think a bit what you're applying daily, frequently on your skin as it all goes into the blood stream and can stay there for up to even 30+ days from just a single use.

Anyone on this forum actually use this stuff? Please let us know. This brand does very heavy marketing and advertising and I am usually very skeptical of brands that do this sort of thing. It shows that they are spending their money more on marketing than actually making the product high quality as high quality products usually speak for themselves. Not saying advertising is bad. If you've seen the raid shadow legends marketing then you understand what I mean.

    • also budget direct insurance is another example. shittiest insurance you can buy for your car. I had a friend who got in an accident and it wasn't his fault, even the other driver admitted that it was his fault and still budget direct did the claim and then cancelled him as a customer LMAO.

wish they brought old spice back into australia, used to work great, now aluminium free in the US but they haven’t returned to the australian market.

  • Sas quatch?

  • Thanks OP got a couple.. have had a look at my deodorants' contents recently and trying to rid myself of products with 'parfums' or similar

  • My wife has tried a heap of aluminum free deodorants and the only one that works well is Wild. You can get it at Coles for $9 a cartridge. I'm not into the aluminum free mumbo-jumbo, but I prefer the smell and it lasts much longer than regular deodorant.
