Nice find, also the Orient Mako Auto is $219.34.

    • I have the Mako, it’s nice but within a year the crown stripped and won’t screw in.

      • Seems to be an issue with various Orients. My M Force (SEL03001B0) did the same after a year or two.

Not bad have seen just under $200 before.
      Navy also $222

Note: description says Kamasu but these seem to be mineral crystal.

    • You know , for someone who doesn't own a traditional watch . NEEEEEERRRRRRRD !

  • Love this watch, have always wanted the white faced version but missed the cheap prices pre Covid

  • I want the White face at that price thanks…

  • forgive my small brain, but if its solar powered quartz that still means a battery that needs to be replaced eventually right? i only have autos

It'll last quite a while with the included battery, which gets recharged by the solar panel.

I've never had to replace a solar watch battery, yet. Some I suspect I've owned for a decade or more. However I have had to replace the older kinetic watch batteries (used to be capacitors), but for some reason they would never charge up again after having being replaced. The one thing I've found a real PITA with solar watches, if you don't wear them regularly or otherwise keep them charged, they could be discharged when you eventually want to wear them, and you can't just charge them up immediately. When I remember, I take all mine outside for a couple of days when there's good sunlight but it's still a pain having to do that, and when you've forgotten for over 6 months or so, that's it. I've had wind up watches, automatic watches, quartz watches, kinetic watches, solar watches and smart watches. The worst in my opinion for powering are the kinetic followed by the solar. Nowadays I'd much rather have to replace the battery in each quartz watch I own every couple of years, than go though the hassle of keeping multiple solar watches charged and ready throughout the year(s).

Sounds like you're storing the solar watches away in the dark which is the worst thing for them. Best to leave them somewhere so they can get indirect sunlight.

        • Yes I was as there's really no where that gets decent sunlight inside the house due to window tinting and roller shutters on most windows. I now have them in front of one window that gets some indirect sunlight but there's a patio roof over it, so it's not much light at all really.

      • I’d echo your thoughts on Seiko Kinetics. Mine wasn’t never the same after being serviced for a capacitor/battery. Not a cheap watch so I don’t consider them as an option anymore. Actually I don’t know if’s they even make them.

I like solar but I agree there is something carefree about the ones I can throw in a drawer without a care.

It's not usually a worry, at least for 10 years.
Just make sure they get enough sun (agree leave out or in a case with clear top, not in the drawer).

It's not a deal breaker at all and can be replaced eventually (battery or solenoid).

  • Actually went ahead and bought one of these - I think it will make me look really handsome and classy. Rocking an Apple Watch at the moment and hoping this spices things up!

Leave some of the ladies for the rest of us…

A Rolex works better for that.

  • This watch is really good IMO - it makes me look sooo much more prestigious and classy vs an apple watch or something gaudy like the 'coutura' range…

Orient isn't even cheap looking at the rest of their range - it seems some where in the middle.
