Aberlour A'Bunadh Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml $125 (Member's Price) + Delivery ($0 Pick-up/ In-Store) @ Dan Murphy's

620

One of OzB's favourite scotches is back on special again. I don't think it's been this price for a while, but I might be wrong.
No code required, but if you buy a few bottles, you might be able to stack with the $40 off $300 code AUG40

EDIT: Confirmed it does stack with AUG40, making it ~$112/bottle, if you're stocking up. Also, forgot to mention you need to be a Dan's member, so sign up for free to save yourself a dollar

Ugh. Thanks. Now I have to buy. In my view the best sherry cask by some margin.

    • You're welcome. I am also helping myself to a bottle

  • Cheers OP. One of the best Sherry's out there.

  • Stacked with AUG40.

Got two and a few bottles of red.

Not for me, says not eligible

Good discount and deal so +1 but there is a reason A'Bunadh is always on permanent sale @ DM. They can't sell them @ RRP or even well below.

    • +3

Yeah, I too struggle with the price of a few whisky's these days. Stuff like Lagavulin is completely borked in price.
This one felt like it was a decent enough deal to post.

      • +1

Yeah, it's a deal no doubt.

Problem is anything decent these days i.e. award winners gets jumped on by resellers and scalpers and then you have collectors rounding out the mix.

You can still buy a good whisky, but unless your quick you probably have to stick to less hyped brands.

        • +1

What are the less hyped brands that you guys can recommend? I never know so when i am going through duty free or come across these deals on ozb, i end up purchasing even though the prices do make me pause as it is higher than i prefer to pay.

@lonewolf: Just grab what ever is in stock or on special that meets your budget. Most of the 'hyped' or most wanted go within 30 minutes or less.

Ardberg, Aberlour, Laphroiag, Glenfiddich, Loch Lomond are all pretty good and usually in stock at good prices. You can pick up a 10-year-old for $100.

            • +1

@GardenGnome: Every single one of these are pretty good. Great recommendation my guy 👍

              • @talesheva: There are so many options it's hard to nail down a certain brand. There are probably another 15 whisky's around $100 that you could grab without having to buy within 30 minutes of release. Ledaig, Nikka, Redbreast, GlenAllachie, Bruichladdich, Glenfarclas can be had for $100 to $130 for a decent 10- or 12-year-old.

          • +1

            @lonewolf: I like Glenlevit

Sensational, cask strength whisky, good value up to $150 or so. Great at this price.

  • That's a great price. Its been while.

  • Nice, anyone know how the latest batches have been tasting?

    • +1

      (profanity) Fantastic!

  • Thanks OP. Got 2 of the monkey shoulders price matched and got 2 of these. So sort of paid 104/bottle each for this as i would have paid $50 for the monkey shoulder on amazon anyway.

  • +3

Be careful these are batch releases and in my experience from batch 60 onwards it’s been downhill

    • +1

Interesting! Was gonna order, now might pop past a shop to check out first.

Can you shed any more experience on this? (Like downhill in any specifics?) I just read this but it's from 2020 - other reviews don't seem to be comparative.

      Edit: Just found this too.

      And now this.

Note to self - stop reading, have a drink and enjoy.

      • +1

I've been drinking it since batch #25, and I still really enjoy it today as my favourite whisky of choice.

Stop stressing about reviews and just enjoy a good dram.

        • Batch 84, I'll take you as you are.

  • One of my absolute favs, thanks OP!

  • Any one tried Lark classic and can share the feedback?

    • +1

Like most Whisky and OZB snobs I'm against 500ml bottles. It's a rip off, less for more.

      • I assume they go to 500ml due to the ridiculous tax and high cost of producing alcohol in Australia. Unless you're producing wine our gov f***s producers and consumers sideways.

    • Yep. Just bagged for $110.

    • Cheers! also bagged for 110.

    • amazing! cheers

    • Thanks! Picked up for 110 also!

    • legend. great find ……

  • which one is better this or Lagavulin 16?

    • +2

They're very different whiskies. Laga 16 is way overpriced these days though and this is a much better value if you like cask strength whisky.

    • +2

If you like peated whiskies, go for Lagavulin but if you prefer honey, vanilla, fruity, and caramel notes then buy Aberlour. Aberlour A'bunadh is bargain at this price.

  • This stuff is so good

  • +1

Bought the Ledaig 10 YO for $83. Used SPIRITS15. Thanks OP and @bond008

  • Stacked with SPIRITS15 code, Brisbane.
