For anyone who missed out on last R36S deal, this one better deal because it comes with Wi-Fi built-in and better color for extra 1 US dollar-ish imo

From my research it's basically R36S but with Wi-Fi chip added onto board. Note that the only catch is USB OTG probably doesn't work due to that added Wi-Fi chip from what I read.
Good for getting those retro achievements on the go & I do not think clones of R36XX exist as its still pretty new.

To access this deal, you need to use new aliexpress account and the title above the price should say WINTER CLEARANCE Welcome deal

There are other colors available as well for couple more bucks compared to blue one.

Let me know if I missed anything.

  • not bad if needed wifi

  • Does AliExpress play nice if you make a new account all the time?

    • Its hit and miss.
I've personally never had an issue. But I do have a few numbers so I'm not recycling the same number on every single account.

      • Do you need a new mobile number each time?

        • +1

I've re-used the same number twice (two times other than the first time).

    • The very least use Incognito/private browsing and a new email from proton or mail.com

  • I get this : WINTER CLEARANCE Welcome deal

    but its at $30 pre-tax

    • It still comes up on as AU$20.44 for blue model and AU $24.62 during checkout on my end at this time of writing.
Might be targeted for some new accounts?

  • +1

I don't need this. I've ordered one. Thanks

  • Saw on ali R36 Ultra.

  • Can anyone recommend a hand held with HDMI and Bluetooth or wired separate controller support?

    • +1

I've been looking fairly deeply into these recently and might be able to give some suggestions

      1. No HDMI out, but the budget king (according to reviews) at the moment is/going to be the Mangmi Air X at around $80 USD. It's an older snapdragon CPU android handheld with good controls built on. It's by far the most powerful at it's price point (for a new device) (bar perhaps finding a cheap tablet and using a bluetooth or telescopic games controller like the gamesir x5 lite). Lacks HDMI out (but has bluetooth), however I think they are working on a software work around like casting.

      2. If you want even cheaper and portable (but far less capable), the Anbernic RG35xx series of mobile gaming handsets (they all have the same chipsets but different form factors). These are very much just up to PS1 and light n64 though and the screens aren't great. But they have HDMI out and bluetooth.

      3. The R36 and BattleXP 350 are cool and even cheaper again but about the same power as the Anbernic with worse controls and less support and usually lack hdmi out or bluetooth. Largely the same form factor though

      4. Just use your existing phone/tablet. I was looking at devices like the Mangmi Air X until I realised you can just use your Android phone and it's usually more powerful and better at emulation than these devices. Just buy a bluetooth or telescopic controller.

The android options (your phone/tablet or a mangmi air x) will require more setup time downloading roms and bios files and emulators, though once you've been through the process once it's easier after that. Whereas the Ambernics or other cheap options come on a linux OS with roms pre-installed and ready to go (good for the lazy).

These are some (not all) of the best options for retro gaming under $200 AUD.

If you want to know more, i suggest youtube channels like Retro Games Corpo and TechDweeb.

Happy to answer more questions about what i've found thus far if asked.

  • Hope I catch the next deal
