Maybe if it was a 5090.

Lol do you know how much a 5090 costs? They'd basically be throwing in the PC for free at this price

      • Yeah I do. But what's the point of beefing an RTX 5080 with the 285k, +64 GB ram, and the Z board and a 1600W PSU over practically similar performances over the AMD as this post mentions? That 1600W ain't going to do anything. That Z board doesn't knock things out of the park. The 64 GB 5600 RAM isn't much. And the 285k is known to be overpriced anyway.

Why would you bother with a 285k for AI. It doesn't even have a proper implementation of AVX 512 for LLMs. It also has an NPU with only 13 TOPS. Rather have an AMD 9950X or X3D than an Intel platform that nobody is buying paired with a 5080 or 5090.

  • This feels like a good price, with top quality parts, except for the RAM. Interesting that they list it as only a $500 discount to normal price, considering the PCPP price.

The AI TOP 100E 320GB also isn't include in the PCPP list, and I can't see a price for it anywhere in Aus - the 1TB and 2TB models are VERY expensive overseas though.

I agree, it isn't necessarily the best option for AI at the moment, but this would be quite the desktop.

I'd probably prefer 64GB of 6000 / 30CL ram, rather than this setup, but other than that I'm tempted.

Anyone else's thoughts on it as a home desktop, that isn't at all for pure gaming? (lots of home IT work in VMs, compiling stuff, running containers, etc, etc) I will game on it sometimes of course, but it isn't like the 285k is bad.

    Any experiences with Gala?

I've been keep an eye here this sort of offer, although, was thinking AMD mostly.

    • @galapower I sent you a msg on your website contact form about this, it'd be good to hear back. Basically just understanding the RAM situation. The PCPP lists shows better RAM now than this does here and wondering if any options on upping the speed of the RAM.

Too new to PM you here. :(
