Was looking for an alternative to Audible for my audiobook needs while still supporting authors and came across this platform.
Monthly fee is slightly higher with Libro.fm ($18.99/month) compared to Audible ($16.45/month), however there's a few benefits to using these guys:
- It's not Amazon.
- They're a social good company who are committed to remaining independent and split their profit to support local bookstores (see https://libro.fm/indies).
- No DRM, so you actually own the content you buy and can download it for backing up or using with your own software.
I'm mostly just seeking the ownership aspect, as I'm getting tired of all these subscription services where you don't really own anything you purchase and I'm truly wanting to ensure I support the creators of the content that I consume, most especially for books as I mostly consume less-popular / niche content.

Here to say that Libro.fm is great and switched from Amazon 2 years ago. You get to download your audiobook if you want and it has no DRM. You also can choose a local bookstore to sponsor with your purchases.
