ASUS Zenbook A14 14" Copilot+ PC: $1,499 - $1,999 Delivered (Save $500 - $600) @ ASUS

130

This is my first post; hopefully I have done it all correctly. ASUS has $500 off its entry level ASUS Zenbook A14 making it $1499 instead of $1999. This includes 16GB RAM, WUXGA (1920 x 1200) panel, and 512GB SSD.

They also have another model that's $600 off, normally $2599 now $1999. That one has 32GB RAM, a 1TB SSD and a faster Qualcomm SnapDragon X Elite processor.

UX3407QA-QD148WS = $1499, was $1999
UX3407RA-QD063WS = $1999, was $2599

The Copilot+ PC thing means it's on-par with the Microsoft Surface range and has a neural processor.
I couldn't see an expiry date.

    This includes… HD panel

    It's been a while since I've seen a 720p display!

    • Sorry you're right; it's not high-def it's WUXGA (1920 x 1200). I will edit the post.

  • No good display

Zenbooks' can go for better prices, right?

    • This is the light weight model at ~1kg

        Right.

Personally, I'm happy carrying the extra 370g. Never miss arms in my split…

Not if you want a laptop that weighs 980g.
Shame it doesn't have a touchscreen.

I hear some OzBargainer's can be a bit underwhelmed by one or a combination of:

    Snapdragon lappy CPUs
    1/2 terabyte storage
    16GB RAM (and no add)
    1080p/1200p
    60Hz

Or at least want it for a lot less…

    • Yes pretty ordinary

After using a Snapdragon laptop for over a year, my next laptop will almost definitely be … another Snapdragon laptop maybe until Intel/AMD catches up in terms of battery life, resume-from-sleep speed, maintaining battery charge in standby, and not waking itself up in my bag, heating up, and draining the battery.

They've started to catch up in terms of battery life, still waiting on the others.

As with all things, make sure what you're buying suits your needs. A Snapdragon laptop is an excellent choice for many people, but it won't be for everyone.

      • Yep, same here. I'm waiting the the Lenovo Slim 7x (32GB X Elite) or Surface Book 15 (64GB X Elite) to be clearanced later this year.

      • Any issues with software/app compatibility?

        • Not with any of the apps I use regularly. Even Fusion 360 runs fine under emulation.

          • @eug: How about apps you use occasionally, any issues with those?

  • I'm using my A14 with the Elite as I type now. .. Really great after about 4 mths. Performance is great. Screen is amazing. Keyboard is very nice.

  • Is the lack of legacy Windows app support on Snapdragon (ARM-based) devices can be a significant drawback anymore in 2025

    • It really depends on what apps you want to use. It wasn't a drawback for me in 2024.

    • I've had no issues with A14 .. what software are you referring to?

  • dont buy snapdragon when Lunar Lake or Ryzen AI exists

    • +1

      Any sub 1kg recommendations?

    • Have Lunar Lake/Ryzen AI solved the long-standing x86 issues where the battery drains quickly in standby, or they wake themselves up in a bag, get really hot, and drain the battery?

Battery life seems to be slowly improving now, but those other issues were really annoying in the past. Switching to Snapdragon was really a breath of fresh air, not having to think about battery life any more. If anything I really thank Qualcomm for giving x86 a wakeup call.

      • i dont have that issue in my lunar lake model, whenever I stop using it I just close it and next time I open it the battery life remains the same or drains 1-2%.

      Thank you so much!

  • Does anybody plug their snapdragon into a 4k dock to extend to multiple screens? What has been your experience?

    • +1

I have the A14 and a 32" 4K U3223QE and 27" 4K U2723QE in front of me .. can test something if you want .. I just connect the 32" to the USB-C and 27" to the HDMI port without a 4k dock. I have a few of those USB-C 4K hubs dongle things. Also can daisy chain the U3223QE.
