Xbox Backwards Compatibility List

Hey everyone
What’s the best list to use to see if a Xbox og or Xbox 360 game will work on the Xbox series X?

I found this link -

https://www.xbox.com/en-AU/games/backward-compatibility

But when I search the game - Battlefield 3 for an example it doesn’t show up

But I’m sure battlefield 3 disc version can be played on the Xbox series X. It was removed from the online 360 store when it shut down so the list above doesn’t show games that will work but only work on disc

Is there a better list that shows disc games too?

But when I search the game - Battlefield 3 for an example it doesn’t show up

The link you’ve posted only shows the games still available for sale on the Xbox Store - it's not a complete list of backwards compatible titles. Battlefield 3 doesn’t appear, since it’s no longer for sale digitally.

There are lists on Wikipedia which are more comprehensive. For example, this is a list of Xbox 360 titles that work on Xbox Series X/S:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_backward-compatible_ga…

Battlefield 3 appears on that list.

    • Sounds like a great game title.

  • Thanks guys!!!

Owning XSX since day one, X360 back compatible games is the only thing that saves this console IMHO.
I am so pissed with this Xbox generation that I started playing on Steam Proton (Linux) with my Elite 2 controller via Bluetooth.

We have not received any next-gen game and new games are just flop left and right.
X360 physical media cost $5-18 so far, those games are still fun, they require minimal download like $3GB instead of 30-80GB

You might need some 3rd party list that shows an actual list: https://www.eurogamer.net/xbox-backwards-compatibility-list-…

    Happy gaming.

Yeah same, avid Forza Horizon player here, and the gap between 5 and the next one is insane. Went to the extent of uninstalling FH5 as it was just done with, and we still haven't seen any news of FH6 ugh

The most disappointing thing is that for the past 5 years IN MY OPINION, we have not received sh1t.

Now because Sony is releasing some games into Xbox, folks seems to have suffered amnesia.
Hellblade 2 is an interactive movie, it is not a next-gen game.

Not to mention the boycotts, StellarBlade was multi platform, Sony paid them to boycott Xbox.
Black Myth Wukong was multi-player, Sony paid for one year exclusivity. They lied about XSS hardware issue and folks blacklisted the game.

I cancelled my Game Pass Ultimate a year or so ago, I was having more fun with games I was buying, physical media, than GP itself.
Microsoft dropped Game Pass Console which I was using mainly to play BF2042 multiplayer, I must pay for Ultimate to play it.
"Oh but it is just 20 bucks", that is not the point!

Anyway, I am back buying X360 and One games, they aren't more than ~$25 and I can play them over and over as I please.
Multiplayer games that do not require kernel anti-cheat which does not run on Linux, I am buying on Steam and GOG coz you don't need subscription to play online.

GOG sells DRM-free games like the upcoming Hollow Knight: Silksong, buy once and it is yours forever.

If only Jet Set Radio Future was backwards compatible.

To be honest, I am tired of doing the right thing and getting f all.

I have downloaded Emulators for X360, PS2, GameBoy, GameCube, they run like a dream on Linux, I could never get them to work on Windows when I used to use it decade ago.
They all support my Elite 2 controller via bluetooth either naively or via emulation.

That is why I am building a Linux Steam PC to live next to my Series X at the side of the TV, where I can have all these games that won't run on my XSX

Man, I was playing 2004 Need for Speed Underground 2 and 2005 Need For Speed Most Wanted on my big TV with controller and, it was running from my gaming laptop connected into the TV.
I want a proper and permanent setup now

        • Hate for the current gen aside, will be interesting what the next gen offers, as it's sounding more like an AMD PC than a console

I can’t believe how little the backwards compatibility is for Xbox og on XSX

    Thought it was bigger
