Whaaat? I think not every price drop (even 50%) is a bargain.
Who pays 600$ for a lamp.

    • +7

      People who can afford it

      • +2

True. I hope less & less affordable people stay on Ozb. So i can get some cheap 5$ kmart clearance lights :)

    • +2

Probably a lot more people than pay $1200 for a lamp

    • Commercial and high end residential lighting goes for eye watering amounts and most of the clients don’t bat an eye.

I thought although the fitting is ugly , the features are good. Human centric circadian rhythm lighting / daylight tracking is very in right now. Plus it’s Dyson so the end client will go ooohhh ahhhh

Man… this product is garbage. If they want to claim 60 years light quality then maybe they should have more than 5 years warranty on it.

Also how did 400 people review this $1200 light bar and think its worth it?

And 4 of the top 6 most recent reviews are 1* reviews.

    $599 cost of Dyson logo?

  • Where is the bargain?

It’s 50% off. Time to go to specsavers.

      • Been to opsm recently

  • Billionaires must be doing well

  • An ESP32 controlling a strip of warm + cool white LEDs might cost what, 10 bucks‽‽

  • I was in a bar recently where they had some really beautiful lamps on the tables. I thought, wow, these are nice, I'd love to get one if it's under, I don't know, 80 bucks? I found them on Google. They are $700 each… Though I suppose the bar can claim tax deduction on them?

  • These were some of the best diffused lightbars Ive seen for the price.

Don’t judge me, but I kinda like its design… if it were in the 200–300 price range, I’d probably grab one. Looks much better than the ikea lamps

    • Agreed, could be useful and aesthetically pleasing but wouldn't want to splurge more than half its current sale price

    • Yeah I quite like them, but just not $600 (or especially $1200) worth of like. Maybe if I was rolling in cash it would be different.

    • We shouldn't have to wait too long. Somebody will eventually knock off the design and sell them at a far cheaper price.

Perhaps try Google Lens to see if there are any already out there.

Edit: Just did a Google Lens search and funnily enough it picked up a similar looking vertical stand for the Dyson vacuum cleaner and it does very much look like this lamp.

Saw this at the Dyson shop yesterday, the design looks cool, with light pushing through the perforated metal stem when the light folds into itself, what was really surprising is how fragile and cheap the arm movement felt, theres not solidity to the movement, the tolerance in construction is not right, the joint felt so flimsy, something I'd expect from Kmart. Test it in shop before pulling the trigger and assuming its a masterpiece of engineering.

  • Can anyone speak to whether this product actually provides full spectrum circadian light and can output 10,000 lux at least 30cm away? Or is it just an expensive furniture item and the solarcycle/circadian aspect is just empty marketing

    • Huh ? The average lux level is listed right there on the page 🤷‍♂️ Hint : It's nowhere near 10,000.

      • Lux is a function of distance. They don’t mention at what distance they record 1500 lux. Since it’s a floor lamp, you may assume the distance would be large.

If you put your face right up to the lamp, as people do with circadian lamps, you might expect the lux number to increase significantly.

Happy to be corrected as I’m not a light physicist.

  • There’s a further 5% off via Unidays - does anyone know of any better coupon codes than that?

    • Yep - go to Dyson.com.au and scroll down the page, you'll see a pop-up for a 10% coupon in exchange for signing up to their mailing list. After about 2 hours, you'll receive an email with a code that works on this deal. Takes it down to $539.10.

If that doesn't work, Cashrewards has 9% cashback on Dyson today - can't use the welcome coupon if you want the cashback though.

  • Compare to some of the popular Benq lamps, this discounted price is reasonable.

  • Ugly AF, does xiaomi make floor lamps? love my 1S desk lamps - only $60 and are awesome 5+ years later
