First up, yes, this is the US version so if you're concerned about DLC incompatibilities, don't be, because there almost certainly won't be since its developer, Ouka Studios was shut down.

I was super excited when this was announced, another Mana game, and the graphics! Wow THE GRAPHICS! It looks stunning!

Been waiting for this one to drop in price since release - Metacritic user rating of 8.3

Timely post, I’ve been thinking about the Mana games and this newest release.

I played the first 3 as a kid and loved them and now my neurodivergent 6 year old seems to be captivated by Zelda and Hogwarts Legacy and I wanted to show him the classics but I don’t know if he will hack the graphics. He calls it “olden days” graphics lol.

Does anyone know if this would be suitable for a kid? Hogwarts works well because of the arachnophobia mode.

    • Hogwarts and this seems pretty full-on for a six year old so I don't know how anyone could recommend it, but obviously you know your child best. Zelda I can somewhat understand, but I'd be waiting for them to let you know what they may want to play. Animal Crossing may be a start?

    • That's great! I have over many years returned and can still return to 'Secret of Mana'. I'd love to play 'Trials of Mana' a few more times as well.

I'm pretty sure there is a demo of 'Visions of Mana' available for download right away. I didn't want to download it when it first became available as I knew I would way too tempted to buy it immediately at full price, which was around $110 from memory.

Maybe give that demo a shot but be mindful that the discounted price might go up at any time.

    • This one sticks to the style and tone of the originals, so it's a fairly "safe" high fantasy adventure. Even the zombies are fairly comical and cartoonish. There's a few sad deaths or similar character moments (like in the intro), but that's the only potential issue I can remember.

Also, the Trials of Mana remake is fantastic too.

      • Thank you, I will try it out myself first and see how we go :)

    • Perfectly fine. Mana games are not complicated they're very simple, bright, colorful and fun. They will be absolutely fine with the series :)
