Facebook Randomly Disabled (Issues)

HI all, I have a quick question regarding Facebook. My neighbour and friend had a Facebook account for some time, but recently, when she logged in, the platform asked her to submit a selfie video to confirm her identity. She completed the verification, but within 24/48 hours, her account was disabled with a message stating it violated community standards.

I tried creating a new account for her. Still, the same thing happened. Facebook requested a selfie video for verification, and shortly after (around 24 hours later), that account was also disabled.

JV , "YOU'VE DONE IT AGAIN".

  • How can I get in contact with facebook

You don't. You/your neighbour are not a Facebook customer so they don't offer direct support.

If they happen to a Business user, then access https://www.facebook.com/business/help/1148170623627802

    • it asked to do a selfie video and they did all the steps and all they wanted was a selfie video to confirm identity and they submitted the video and then today facebook declined it and disabled the acc

      • What's she been posting ? Facebook hasn't changed from the plandemic era …

It's some update to Facebook that happened over the last week.

facebook never asked her to add the "get naked" step :P

      • Same happened to me opening a new facebook account only 2 days ago.

I confirmed the email address and was up and running.

Next I posted a place to rent which is legitimate. Nothing more. Not even a click or a like on anything.

Then they asked me to do a 3D selfie to confirm I am a real person which I did.

Next thing they close the account because they say I am in violation of their community standards…WTF????

It is strange they asked ID verification now.
Wait until December when the government imposed ID verification becomes compulsory for everyone for FB, Google, Microsoft, YouTube, Instagram, etc.
I guess the FB ID verification will even be necessary to use Marketplace.
A lot of people don't realise how far reaching this is.
How many will be willing to share ID details or selfies with every internet company that asks for it?
And how will all this information be stored, protected and used by overseas companies?

    • It is strange they asked ID verification now.

      Probably testing on live data…

    • I know you are against selfie. However, not only banks, but also many job applications by corporates have included selfie as part of it now. The trend is that without it, one may have limited moves everywhere.

      • That is because most people just comply. If more people stood their ground and refused to comply the trend would have nowhere to go and just stop.

Banks are slightly more important than accessing Facebook.

can we make a fake ID? ONLY for services who should never need our real ID like facebook, youtube, discord, etc… do they verify with a government database?

which country should we set our VPN who are least likely to ever have government verification systems? or any other restrictions on social media platforms

we can solve live face verification with DeepFaceLab think i used the Virtual Camera function in OBS to get around ID verification in the past, ID should just match what we make in DeepFaceLab

if we need to verify our ID for social media i think we need to start removing it from our lives
hopefully someone will come up with a social media platform on TOR (or similar) that everyone starts using, pipe dream
something a bit like SpaceHey would be cool

SpaceHey blog post on UK's Online Safety Act

They appear to be respecting enough where VPN usage won't get in the way of accessing our accounts

No algorithms, no tracking, no personalized Ads - just a safe space for you and your friends to hang out online!

  • Sadly, it is possible that the selfie does not match because inside the database of their verification provider as it shows up with something else (often due to stolen ID/fraud).

Regardless, your neighbour must now use a different name, but they should follow up with credit reporting agencies to find out if anything suspicious has occurred.

      Yep

      Send them this link….

This was probably a silly idea. It was disabled for a reason either this "friend" was hacked or had done something dodgy on fb market place. A replacement account is not the way to go here. The friend should go through the process as annoying as it may well be. There should be a option to verify in a different way.

    • they only look up cooking recipes, play puzzle games on Facebook and keep in contact with family and friends and only option was to verify with selfie video which we did

I had this happen to a few accounts. Change your IP address, clear cookies and make a new one. The latest one hasn't even asked for a photo yet and it's been over a year.

So I had a similar experience not long ago. I used a vpn all the time (just cause I had one anyway so just left it on) and it appears at some point this tripped a Facebook alarm.
My account was frozen and I was asked to submit photos of my passport to FB to verify my identity. I did, but it got rejected because I use my wife’s surname on Facebook and that’s not my legal name.

So I kept trying, even including a photo of my passport with my wife’s to show that I’m not attempting a fraud but it failed.

My short term solution was to make a new account with my real name, but curiously within a month or so, I tried logging into my old account and noticed that the issue had somehow been cleared and I was able to use it again as normal.

Somewhere in Facebook I guess the flag had lapsed or something. Weird.

So my advice is, if all else fails, still try again after a month or two.
