This one is sold by Amazon AU. If it's counterfeit you should be able to return it easily.
it seems to be random which seller it selects by default, for me it's showing some other seller (at the same price), so just a heads up for anyone else make sure to select the shipped & sold from amazon item if it's not already selected
agree! I bought one or two knock offs from eBay (they passed that "casio" sign test to check if it is real) and they only lasted me a few months before they stopped working. Once I got the legit one, it is absolutely bombproof. Love it and it easily lasts me 10 years at least.
What's the casio sign test?
I would be careful buying the cheaper Casios like these on eBay.

I accidentally bought a fake Casio Royal, and it's terrible. The band is scratchy and very noisy, the battery lasted one year, not ten, and I hate the sound of the beep
My first watch I got in year 5. Pure love for this watch. So glad it's still around.
Legendary watch
Some might like to know Camel says the average price is $26.94. Link is in the description.
Think is a good price for the Casio G-Shock Solar Classic… $129.50
I reckon they are only with about $22, but close enough and maybe there's some cashback. Have bought a few times but never kept one. Just feels too cheap and wouldn't wear it when there are better watches lying around. I'd put the money towards a AE1200 personally.
Yeah can't go wrong with that solar square, much better watch than the F91W (as novel as that is).
It's good to note this U version is the newer 2021 version with multi-date (DD-MM). I had the older 2009 version once.
https://shockbase.org/watches/watch_dyn.php?model=G-5600UE-1…I mean you would hope it's better as it's 5 times the cost lol.
Also being better can only be measured in tiny increments after the f91w.Get what you pay for, yep. The solar squares are classics and would last you at least 10y without doing anything.
The AE1200 is Only doubt at most and feels like less of a piece of junk.
@G-Shock: The F91w are classics and would last you at least 5-7 years for 1/5 the price. I think the rest is all very personal preference. Both plastic watches.
@onlinepred: Just get that then. Have you ever tried one on? Very small and underwhelming, good for a kid's first watch.
You could apply that cheapest is best mentality to anything, it means nothing.
All cars are metal..
@G-Shock: Yep had two for 5 years now. I wear it while gardening and when I travel. It was the watch that got me into watches. Not sure why you are trying to gatekeep a fashion item because it’s cheap.
Spending more money on watches is often quite a silly thing with limited returns beyond fashion and being a hobby.
@onlinepred: Doesn't worry me, just saying the other alternatives as worth the extra and still cheap (like the AE1200).
Yeah the F91w is obviously iconic, as long as you are happy with the size and cheapness then everyone should get one. I just don't see the point personally as I wouldn't end up wearing it much. I agree they are great beaters, noy sure you are saying they are all anyone needs.
@G-Shock: Exactly, just as the gshock isn’t for everyone. This is why we all have personal opinions and preferences, let alone budgets. Spending $120 on a bulky, beater, plastic watch is a lot and clearly not what everyone needs.
The AE1200 is bigger, has an entirely different aesthetic, and the same argument applies that spend a bit more and get different watches. Nothing better about the ae1200 compared to the f91w at all. All great options, I have both and I would only pay more for the ae1200 if I was after that aesthetic.
The watches you are listing are entirely different to the F91w, so not sure why you are suggesting them. It's like saying don't get the AE1200, get a Seiko 5 GMT
@onlinepred: The good thing is there are different watched for different occasions, budgets and tastes.
Those f91w would look pretty shit house with smart casual attire but obviously people can do what they want. I don't mind them but they've crept up in price for what they are. Personally they don't sit well on my wrist feel way too cheap so I'm not interested.
It's also not about spending a heap, I got a miltado 38mm khaki field knockoff for $45 with cashback (bead blasted finish, super legible, sapphire, Seiko VH31 quartz movement).
@G-Shock: Exactly, and that miltado isn’t digital, is bigger and thicker. Entirely different. You could get that and the f91w for two different styles and still have money left over over compared to a gshock
@onlinepred: Ok.
Yes they are different but feels like a lot more expensive watch for $45, moreso than the AE1200 too. Appearance wise it's not too bad compared to a Hamilton hand wind.
Goes to show you can afford more than one watch at these prices.
You have valid points but after purchasing one of the F91Ws I am a big fan. Have been using it as a daily for the last year and a bit now and can't fault it. The face has also taken some punishment
Not sure if relevant here, but I recently bought a simple Casio from Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B000JNKABW?ref_=pe_64690442_581…
The product page didn’t specify band length, but because I saw size “Adult”, I figured I’d be alright. After all, who doesn’t compare the size of their wrists to other normal adults to establish standard “adult” wrist sizing? Anyway, the watch arrived and let me tell you - it only just fits onto my wrist, and that’s using the very last hole. I still wear it because it’s paid for and it was cheap, and technically it does fit, even if only just.
I guess what I’m saying is to know the length of the band, and check your wrist size. “Adult” may have many different measurements when it comes to wrist size.
Hope this helps someone :)
It's the downside of having small or large wrists, you have to then be aware of these things!
Interesting bit of history that is probably of no interest to anyone - according to the US government, this watch was a sign of being a terrorist.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casio_F-91W#Usage_in_terrorismThey used to be under $10 as well.
Keep the dull (to laymen) facts rolling
Price has gone down to $24.89
Is the alarm loud on these watches? Obviously within it's limitations as being quite small.
alarm is loud for me. Not sure what you consider loud though. I use it as my daily wake up alarm no problems. It rings for about 15 seconds before it stops and definitely not as loud as a phone alarm.
I also use it when travelling, often in hostels. Put it under the pillow, I have earplugs in and it is loud enough to wake me up.Thanks for the detailed description. Sounds loud enough for me.
Just cop anyway and see what all the fuss is about.. Amazon free returns.
Bought one from the seller 'Monster Trading Store', since the Amazon listing isn't shipping to my address. I'll give an update when I receive it.
Easy to google the things to check regarding fakes but should be fine.
Yep, I already had a look at the various ways to check authenticity.
Good work. Usually best to get sold and shipped by Amazon but the monster store seems to be the next biggest.
For other's sake - not all f91w has the tiny U anymore, but the main things I check is country of manufacture, caseback screws, LCD test and you can look at the battery type if you feel like opening.
F105w has a better/proper backlight (illuminator) but not everyone cares about that. They are sometimes $32-35 on sale (I returned one of those too. Not as Iconic colour.
@G-Shock: Got it today, as far as I can tell it looks legit, or a VERY convincing fake.
The only 'concerns':
- Didn't come in original packaging, just a plastic bag and a cardboard cutout (tag is included though).
- Viewing angle, although good, I can start seeing all digits at a fairly extreme angle from the bottom or top (image). This is probably normal though.
- The color of the yellow/gold font seems just a little dull compared to the images I've seen online. But this is probably due to lighting as well as my device screens being somewhat more saturated.
- No U, but as you said that's normal.
Everything else looks very decent as far as I can tell, but it's obviously hard when I don't have the original to compare it to. Probably not going to bother opening up, even though I'll likely get an answer straight away.
I have bought 10 fake Casio F91- W watches for an average price of $A3.50 including postage.
Before the Casio F91- W, there was the Casio F16 watch. I used to give them to my kids to wear to school. If the watch was lost, it was only a minor loss.
I set three of them up as alarm clocks. The first alarm wakes me. The second alarm tells me that I really should get out of bed. The third alarm gets me out of bed.
I ordered two of the same watches shipped and sold by Amazon AU. They came in completely different packaging. Now I don't know real or fake. One is made in China, while the other is made in Thailand.
Packaging is fine, I've had various types. China or Thailand is both correct. Wouldn't worry (but look above in this thread how to tell if real. Do they look and feel the same..
Price is now down to $16.99 for "Limited time deal" promotion via Amazon AU. I didn't need a third one, but a bargain's a bargain.
Don't forget these used to be $5-10.
One thing to note is that knock offs of these are everywhere, this might not seem like a.big deal in a watch this cheap but the knock off's are not great quality and don't last as long, you might as well get the real thing if youre paying for it.
Also Amazon has no checks and balances for counterfeit goods, stuff gets returned and mixed together, sellers with identical items might get each other's stock which is fine if they are both legit but if one is selling knock offs then those could end up with either.
