    The best

  • Out of stock? Won't let me add.

  • Just ordered. It’s back in stock. But no S&S. Be quick.

  • +2

    I just ordered with S & s

  • Is the powder better performing than the liquid version of OMO?

    • +2

In my experience, yes, the powder performs better, and is more shelf stable. It's also a fair bit cheaper per wash.

      • The only ones who still use powder are the ones who haven’t yet tried liquid. So much nicer on your clothes. Especially on darks. Removes stains around the neck and arms. It’s not worth the savings when clothes cost so much money these days. Look after them:
        • Max 40 degrees
        • 800spin setting
        • Use a prewash if they’re visibly soiled.

        • +4

I’ve tried liquid. Seems no better than powder as tested by Choice.

The only time I use liquid is when washing delicates.

The delicate cycle takes longer to dissolve powder.

          • @JimB: powder doesn't dissolve as well but some people with top loaders used to let it fill a bit and dissolve the powder before adding the clothes. No reason not to use liquid these days for front loaders (besides cost).

            • +1

@G-Shock: I've always heard people say that it doesnt dissolve.. but I've never had that problem

              • @morediscount: Same here!

              • @morediscount: That's lucky, depends if you notice.
Anyway doesn't really matter, people were using powder for generations (but could dissolve in top loaders easier .

    • +3

Yes the Ultimate powder is better performing and came in top according to choice-

      https://www.choice.com.au/home-and-living/laundry-and-cleani…

      • how is the ultimate different to the normal one

        • Did you look at the link?
          2% better.

          • +1

@G-Shock: And in Detergency Ultimate was 7% better- General detergency is a measure of how well the detergent keeps soils suspended in the wash water and prevents them from being redeposited on your clothes. It's also a measure of how effective enzymes are at removing protein-based stains, and how effectively a detergent removes oil. Differences of 8% or more in general detergency and soil removal are visible to the human eye.

@Spizz: Good to know - i was looking at the overall rating, the other factors play a part as well.

            • @Spizz: Thanks

    • I don't care what Choice says, but powder is shit in winter. Lab testing!= real life usage. At what temperature did they test under? What washing machine they used it to test?
I found some washing machines powder works better, doesn't need to be Ultimate. But this works good in winter in my current machine.

      • +2

Winter? What difference does Winter make? My washing machine washes at 40-60 degrees year round?

  • Literally everytime I go to order any of these grocery deals on Amazon it is never in stock. Or its not at the price listed. What am I doing wrong lol

    • live out in whoop whoop?

    • +2

      Coles has it for $25

    • A lot of items are metro-only when Amazon AU is the seller. Anything bulky or heavy but cheap they won't allow orders outside the city.

Seen it on the toilet paper deals, this deal, and some random stuff like a TP-Link switch for some reason. Happy to post to Melbourne suburbs, 'out of stock' otherwise.

You can basically only order things they make huge markups on rurally now, not bargains with lower markups that are heavy or bulky to send.

      • This makes a lot more sense now. Did not even consider that. Thanks all, I'm in South West WA. So not quite woop woop, but to be fair WA in general is probably classed that way 😂

  • $10.80 with s&s, makes 2L

    • Not the Ultimate.

      • Sensitive is what I use.
Not sure how much different between them all to be honest. Low irritant is good and don't have tough stains.

        • -1

Fair enough if you use it but it isn't comparing like for like is what I'm pointing out.

        • I cant stand the small of Sensitive. Really sharp and unpleasant chemically smell.
Though I got a bad batch or was overdosing it, started using half the recommended amount but that strong smell is still there even if I add ona spoonful of detergent 🤷
My partner says she cant smell it, but I can smell it lingering even after picking off the line outside.

          • @ripprind: I thought the whole purpose of Sensitive was for it to be scent free. Who knows what you’re smelling ?? Lol

            • @johnnytran: same, I bought the sensitive expecting no smell. I dont want the detergent smell on my clothes. So much so that I always add extra rinse cycles and use dash of vinegar instead of softener in the rinse cycle to remove any excess detergent.
Its pretty interesting how differently people perceive some smells 🤔 🤷

              • @ripprind: You'd hate the smell of ultimate then or any of the other OMOs. Ultimate and their new odour refresh one in particular have a strong scent. Ultimate was very strong before they reformulated it earlier this year/last year sometime, i could smell it on my clothes for days after the wash and i have a bad sense of smell, can't imagine what it was like for people who have a sensitive nose

              • @ripprind: That's funny washing detergent has a detergent smell.

          • @ripprind: Yeah you're probably putting too much in.

Some people use a big stripe of toothpaste like in the ads too.

    • +3

Just use powder which is what liquid detergent is anyway when mixing with water

      • idk what I use, I got it from Coles for like $4 and my clothes smell fine after a wash.

I guess if you have messy kids who get stains all over their clothes you might need something else… Even then, is Cold Power that much worse? https://www.amazon.com.au/Cold-Power-Advanced-Laundry-Deterg… $21.87 for 5L

https://www.bunnings.com.au/dynamo-5-4l-professional-7-in-1-… $27.45 for the 'ultimate super extreme stain remover' variant at bunnings, and onepass available.

If you read the Choice tests they test all the laundry powders and liquids. There are often significant differences between them - for example from memory 'Fab' and 'Earth Choice' were largely useless, marginally better than just washing in plain water.

Omo Ultimate came out on top, Sensitive doesn't do as well as non-sensitive for dirt removal, and powders perform better than liquids.

          • @placard: Earth choice goes alright for dishwashing liquid (although it's gone from $2 to $2.50) but even their floor cleaner is pretty useless.

          • @placard: The test likely tests things like stain removal too though, if you're washing clothes that have only been worn with no stains or any major soiling I doubt there's a major difference between anything.

Likely would be the case I could get away with just water, but the powder would be more antibacterial and adds a nice fresh smell.

            • @Dyl: I found it was the whites would all start turning a shade of grey with crap soap after some time. White socks, collars of white shirts etc. Omo brings them straight back to white again.

    Be quick

Check my laundry and see 20L on the shelf … order one to feel the ultimate.

  • Town water makes it harder. HARD

But I thought hot water did most of the work.. Ah that universal solvent when heated lifts off dirt, oils, grime, blood, food, etc. Team it with a bit of detergent. Tis all you need.
Believe you me. 300 PPM town water is very hard. Powered detergent damn well could not mix. Was enough white power chemicals in it.
Ever wondered the reason towels and other items are stiff. You did not add starch.
But wait for the metal pipes to rust and QUU to take over. Ha better call a tank place.

On rain water. less than 1/2 a cap in a 30L container for whites or stained items and hot water over night brings them back to soft clothing, soft towels, soft sheets.
Don't know what it costs from aldi the 1kg di san is okay.
Buy 5kg of 60% sodium hydroxide works good too.
