THANK YOU.
legend, too good a price to pass up… after i purchased there are 2 left now..
Kogan takes their time hey.. yours shipped yet?
Mine not shipped yet either (kogan eBay)
@HappyPants: Hmm, I notice the listing is now OOS despite only a handful of sales on 31/8 and 20+ available when it came back in stock…
Are we going to get order cancellations I wonder?
@HappyPants: Nup.. 😒
Judging by the time of your comment below and the ebay sold history guessing you ordered yours just before mine. There's a few that bought after me too, wonder if theirs shipped.
According to their eBay questions "Your item will be sent within 3 days of your purchase."
@HappyPants: Ah well..nothing unusual for Kogan I guess, shoulda known better.. and just pray there's no need for warranty too :)
Will see what they have to say..
@HappyPants: "After following up on your order, I can confirm that there has been a delay in receiving the stock at our warehouse.
Your BlueAnt 120W Soundblade Under Monitor Soundbar (Charcoal) is now expected to be dispatched on 15/09/2025."
Pretty poor I had to follow up myself but guess I'll leave it be for now at that price. In the meantime, my quest for compact desk speakers to use over USB has led me to the Edifier M60's. Price is bit more up there though…
@bamzero: Oh that's great news. Fantastic. Received mine but had it shipped to a family member as we were overseas, so haven't been able to unbox it yet. Interesting to see how it sounds.
@HappyPants: Did get it a few days back. It's got the bass, rest of it is kindy muddy so not great for music but think it will do ok for general use.
I don't know what the obsession is with having to use a startup sound.. this one plays the didge.. They've lowered the voice prompts and startup sound volume in later firmware though and can disable too.
They also added auto-wake with USB so I'll have to get mine updated as it came with initial 0.0 version (also improvements to the volume scale at lower levels). Need to register and contact them to get the firmware update.
Was bit concerning when I received and outer packaging original seal was cut and retaped, and then inside the accessories box also had the seals cut. No evidence of it being used and the accessories were all in there and appeared untouched so hope it goes ok.
@bamzero: Supplemental titbits:
Its IR remote and touch panel volume controls alter alone the Soundblade's software sound device volume level (on Windows 11 that is the case). In other words, the Soundblade's -not- exposing a mere HID keyboard inputting vol key presses that only affect Windows master volume. That's good. (Mine's also on initial release firmware; should that be important to note.)
Also notice that USB mode doesn't need power [wire(s)] from the host. Connected and functioning via a USB hub that has individual switches with respective USB port switched off. Kinda good. (Enlightening me to the fact my hub's physical toggle buttons aren't an on/off switch for data as well as power.)
I concur regards your remark as to its muddy audio characteristic - Music and Movie presets more so compared to Game. I haven't heard any distortion, yet, I haven't really ramped the volume up.
It complements my old 5.1 system (which takes 2 channels via optical, getting Surround from matrix-encoded / DPLII waveforms, a Receiver in this mode is a boon with YouTube, or real channels from DTS [Interactive] or DD [Live]), all speakers firing, experiencing an expanded soundstage for real with addition of the Soundblade.
I've got 4 sound output devices synced with VB-Audio Matrix Coconut ("Ultimate Audio Router"). Using this Windows software one could create their own true surround sound system with up to, like, eight (?!) Soundblades (they're 2 channel input by the way). Quick config: Set Windows Default Device for Sound Playback to VBMatrix in 1 (VB-Audio Matrix VAIO). And configure Matrix Coconut something like as seen in my screenshot here. However, other than individual channel ±db gain, adjusting the volume collectively or of each output device now presents a new challenge (if without physical or device-targeted controls).
@Graduate: Not surround but kind of along the same lines, in v2.2 (which isn't on the changelog) they added paired mode to link two Soundblades wirelessly for separated stereo output.
@bamzero: Huh! That's an unexpected feature update just to hide in the FAQ.
I've to correct [and refrain from confabulating] minor technical details: The Soundblade does actually use HID input devices but the drivers & Windows is indeed set to map endpoints in the desirable way to & from the Soundblade USB audio device to reflect the volume level in both software mixer & hardware; that is still to say, its volume buttons are -not- acting as mere system-wide multimedia keys. That's an implementation done right. And.. I've just broke it, its interoperability in some weird ways, seeing the speaker level slider move on its own pegging to either 0% or "Maximum Volume" - yikes, I don't need to hear the voice prompt that so audibly; so I will request that new firmware later. Tried re-initialising, power cycling, uninstalling devices, whatever, now I'm only able to actualise volume change from the Sound device Speaker properties Level slider… It's no problem for me as I need a more convenient volume control solution in software regardless. May be Windows just needs a restart (- not today, Satan).
@Graduate: Didn't happen to get the new firmware did you? I submitted via their online form back then but still no reply from support.
The form response thanks me for my interest in working with them and for filling their collaboration form :D
Submitted again anyway, hopefully it's actually going somewhere.
OOS
