People can send them in under warranty or the refresh care plan. They change the housing so they're brand new, and the screens ect if they're scratched. Test the hardware and send them back out with full warranty.
It's also a way corporations sell open stock/demo units without damaging the premium product price like Apple does, if they sell "open box" units then people will go into retailers asking for them, because they're significantly cheaper with little to no use (change of mind returns)
Been waiting to pull the trigger on one of these, looks like a historical low. Granted its not brand new but I have a good track record with refurb goods so Ill take the risk for the discount. Thanks for posting.

Do you think DJI Care refresh is worth to add aswell ?I never bother with those upsell plans. If its a major fault they have to cover it regardless.
I also ordered one yesterday after reading a lot of positive reddit threads on dji referb units. They are under $500 new right now, but an extra $100 off is not to be sneezed at. Coming tomorrow. Delivery is quick.
I considered the refresh plan, as I will mainly be using it underwater and that allows for free replacements if it floods due to user error. Ended up getting a cheap underwater housing as insurance instead.Received and tested it today. Looks just like a brand-new unit. Even the internal packaging was all perfect. Just had an 'RB unit' sticker on the sealed box. Thanks OP!

What exactly does refurb mean? Were these cameras returns with issues that have been fixed, or are there other reasons they are discounted?
