But you paid too much for the Tesla.

      • +8

Tesla owners are the new vegans no one cares

        • LOL. Mycar staff asked me to pay 9500 bucks to repair so called issues and failed my pink slip. My old car doesn’t even worth 9500 bucks in the market. I took it to other repair shops for 2nd opinion. Surprisingly 2nd shop said it’s minor leakage Doesn’t need to do anything for now and the other so called issue doesn’t exist at all. Wat the hill! Good on you MyCar staff. Try to rib off? I know I’m dumb in car or mechanics but not that dumb spending 9500 bucks in repair a car which doesn’t worth that much. Ugly bad chubby guy! Desperate for his commission aye!

          • @duodeta: Mycar can be crooks.

They tried to get me to change tyres before I sold a car and I just went to the govt inspection station and they passed the car without any issues.

The one I went to was Mycar Phillip in the ACT.

    • well?? we're waiting…

    Shell fuel is pretty overpriced.

    • Got 91 at local shell for $1.6/L today

  • +2

$1392.xx quote for a oil change and spark plugs and fuel filter and air filter. wow!!!

    • +1

What the shit…. can do it yourself in 3 hours…

    • +20

Run! especially from MyCar… this mob is the worst. The $100 off is just a marketing trick where they give with one hand and take triple with the other.

      • +1

Yeah I remember I went there once. Charged $80 for a Ryco oil filter I later bought for $17. Just do it myself now don't trust them anyway. Mostly noobs

      • Exactly! Personally experienced that from mycar!

    • $882 quote for Honda 60k service, ouch!
      dealer servicing ~$1000

  • +7

They are overpriced. Even higher than the dealer service prices.

    • I thought they charged the same.

  • Waiting for their 50% off Pirelli tyre sales…

@sallyj - do you of any upcoming tyre sales?

    • +1

Got that pirelli tyres last time. I’m telling you that this Tyre is worse than Bridgestone ones. It takes more fuel on them. Same tank of fuel runs less km.

  • +2

Will they accept my 1986 Volvo for servicing? Done about 300000 km. Do I actually need the logbook?

  • +4

Son had his car towed to MyCar after he couldn't start it. After having the car for 3 days, they told him the engine was blown and to buy another car. He took it to another mechanic who got it started in 15 minutes.

    • +1

      Fuuk mycar! Useless

    • Wat was wrong with it?

  • +12

Wouldn't even consider this mob, I took them up on a tire deal a couple years ago, and they said I needed a whole bunch of other things totaling $1,100 but couldn't itemize it for me when asked and said they couldn't lock my car and they didn't know why. One of the rear doors wasn't shut properly which was clearly highlighted on the dash and these "mechanics" couldn't figure that out. They don't take care of your wheel studs either, as they clearly don't know how to crack it first before ugga-duggaing it with a rattle gun, as they broke four wheel studs on my car when changing the wheels. When mechanics don't know how to do their job, they work for this mob so id be very careful.

    • I was worried they were going to do this to my wife when she bought the car to them for front wheel replacement… No issues though. Two front tires replaced, no further issues…

Did a search online, the car too old to need a logbook service. Money saved!

  • Quoting $380 today, will check tomorrow

The only lure for me is 12 months roadside assistance with logbook, any recommendations for that?

    • +1

They offer the road side on cheaper standards services too
I've used a few times in my older vehicle
they don't use a dedicated fleet like racv and nrma do, they partner with the small local independent mobile mechanics and mobile auto elec battery supply vans

Got my car started no fuss 70km out of Melbourne
And towed to mechanic another time

      It's a metro-ish service though don't expect coober pedy

  • BYD excluded

    • Why?

  • +1

Would avoid! Had a good run with them for tyres but this last time, they have absolutely fked up the alignment of my car. Could not trust them to do any mechanical work.

  • can this be used as pink slip or included?

  • +3

enough bad reviews of mycar to avoid them entirely imo

  • +2

    More like marketing trick..

  • +1

Same experience as others have mentioned. Booked in for log book service, they phoned me and said that the oil filter isn't included in the "logbook" service and that it was an extra $50 if I wanted them to replace it. I stupidly agreed. Then when I picked up the car, they told me that all four tyres needed replacing. I found that odd as they look like they have plenty of tread … they said "they are 7 years old so need to be replaced" … I said thanks but no thanks. Never going back there.

  • guys.. Check autoguru for quotes from professional mechanics near you. Mycar was more expensive than the dealer when I last checked. Imagine being a bigger rip off and less competent than a car dealership!!!

  • +1

Dodgy people. My car has been serviced every 6 months at a small, private mechanic for years. Decided to try these guys last time for a service with this offer, picked up the car to a quote for $2700 for 4 new wheel "struts" or something-or-other. Never going back, I doubt they even changed the oil. Just a load of scammers and marketing ploy.

  • never touch Mycar guys .. they are dodgy car service!!

  • +2

Can confirm these guys are dodgy AF. Over 2 occassions they have tried to upsell me for shit that wasn't necessary. New wipers cos they saw it streaking - tested it myself after I picked up the car and they were perfectly fine. Wheel alignment - I doubt they even performed it as they didn't provide a print out of the stats. Suggested a new battery for a 2 year old car and the car has been running fine a year later. If you're going to get your car service with them you need to be weary.

    • They did a wheel alignment despite me telling them not to do it when I brought my car in for new tyres.

    • I feel like every dealer service does that too. They definitely have a list of go-to's to recommend changing.

  • +1

Doesn't look like I can book online for my couple of local stores. And if I book online there's no discount. Absolute fail of a promo.

  • I actually got a cheaper quote after this discount for the same service from an authorised dealer in my area. Plus the 12 month roadside assist makes this a decent deal.

  • 1st Quote $580 for a minor service, when my local ford dealer charges $440 with a free 12 months road side assist and loan car….
    2nd Quote (different store) $539 + additional fee for loan car…….. HAHA….

Man how are they making money, unless people are too lazy to do some call around these days.

  • $50 charge for a puncture repair

  • I had a similar experience like others but don't know why all of their stores have such a high rating? :/
