Scoot coming to Perth!!!???

I got a promo email from Scoot and went to check fares out of Sydney because I will be there late in the year/early next year and may head up to asia from Sydney, rather than fly to Perth and then up.

Anyway, I noticed that the booking menu now includes Perth. It doesn't appear that there are any flights available to be booked yet, but I'm wondering if Perth has always been listed there. I think not.

I am hoping they are getting their website ready before announcing flights from to Perth to anywhere in Asia.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Tiger Airways (now interline partners with Scoot) already flies Perth to Singapore, so it's less likely to happen as it would be doubling up its 'network'. Jetstar also operates the route and AirAsia X fly to KL cheaply.

Having said that, both Scoot & Tiger operate identical routes from Singapore to Bangkok and Taipei - so there's still a chance.

Scoot have an order for a number of 787s upcoming, so they are planning some substantial expansion in the coming years.

    • Thanks for the response. Tiger is actually quite expensive most of the time.

    • Hi JoelT

I have a big family trip in Dec and I'd like to get your help on sourcing the cheapest flights. I'll pay for your help.

      Thanks!

  • Hi JoelT, you seem to be very knowledgeable in obtaining very cheap deals when it comes to booking international flights and accommodation, and I was wondering whether I could ask for your assistance in planning a trip

  • Here is a new article:

    http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/wa/18716528/more-bargaiā€¦

It says: "Airline sources said Singapore-based Scoot Airlines and Indonesia's Tigerair Mandala have applied for slots into Perth from October 1."

Not really concerned about Tiger because I think they are PER - DPS. They are already PER - SIN (and not very competitive usually.)

Does anyone have ANY idea of when these flights might go on sale if SCOOT are granted slots from 1 Oct?

  • mate of mine works for Scoot
and he told me that they have applied for permission to fly out of Perth, they have no tie-in with Tiger Australia so not sure where that has come from. They are tied in with Tiger in Asia, you quite often link to a tiger plane after a stop over in Singapore.
Given tiger is majority owned by Virgin Australia now i certainly doubt the tie in ever exsited.

and FYI they have also applied to fly out of Melbourne (with plans to use the new international terminal at Avalaon) from mid 2014

I don't think the airlines are tied. I think the article was just talking about the new talent coming to Perth and the only thing the two have in common are tha they have both applied to start on the 1st of Oct. Tiger to Bali and Scoot to singapore.

I am looking forward to those mind blowing scoot sales!!!!!
