  • 7-speed freewheel, hub drive, tourney, cable brakes.
Not really built for off-road, is it? Could have saved the weight of the shocks and heavy wheels, and made a cheap commuter.

    • I have an NCM E-Mountain bike which has 23 speeds. Absolute overkill with an electric bike. I would rather only have 7 speeds as I only ever use less than that, once the electrics come into play. Nothing wrong with the cable brakes either. This is no pro mountain bike but if it's anything like my Moscow Plus, it's totally fine for light off road stuff.

Good point. To clarify, it is not about the number of gears, but the range, and freewheel vs cassette.

Freewheel is typically 14-28T, while an 8-speed cassette is 11-34T , so 2x vs 3x range.
With a cassette on an e-Bike, you don't need a front derailleur - one chainring is enough.
Freewheels are also much more prone to bending or breaking the axle.

        • Yes spot on. I can't for the life of me work out why it came with some many speeds, however other than that, they make pretty good e-bikes.
