Kogan Returns for Faulty Monitor Arm?

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a monitor arm from Kogan which claimed it supported monitors up to 49” and 18kg. I have a 10kg 49” monitor.

Upon setting it up I noticed that the monitor arm wasn’t strong enough to hold it up properly, it kept tilting forward even after countless times undoing it and tightening it as much as I could (I’m not an idiot).

Anyway, I’ve gone to return it to Kogan as a faulty product as it’s clearly designed for lighter weight monitors. The problem is they won’t give me a refund, only store credit claiming it falls under their ‘change of mind policy’ and it’s not faulty.

I told them it’s clearly a fault and I want to return it for a refund under the consumer law, but now they’ve ghosted me lol

Has anyone had a similar experience? How did you manage a return with them? Safe to say I’m never shopping with them again.

    (I’m not an idiot).

Kogan and ozbargainers will just have to take your word for it.

hmm probably next time get Monitor Arm for 30"- 59" Monitors just to be safe ie in the middle of range

    • That's the one. You'd think saying it supports 18kg would be enough, but clearly they've never actually tested that. I've ordered a more sturdier one from Desky instead and that should hopefully work.

Stop buying Kogan products, expecting them to work as intended, then being surprised that their customer service don’t care when they don’t…

Well, you did buy something from Kogan and expect it to be something other than a piece of crap.

  • Thanks for the helpful advice everyone…

Just do a credit card chargeback.

  • Yeah credit card chargeback will wake them up - they'll either cooperate or continue ghosting which would mean they aren't disputing the chargeback.

  • Was the arm extended too far forward? Maybe the rating of the arm is when not extended forward?
