MSY apparently mirrors the Umart deal for be Quiet! cases, since being acquired by Umart. However, it stacks with MSY's Monthly Special/Hot Deal promotion which may bring down prices further for some cases already on sale (and cheaper than Umart). For example:

Don't know why you're getting negged, they're the same company.

How do you get $42 for the be Quiet! Pure Base 501 ATX Case (BG073)? The link takes you to a price of $125, take $50 off with the coupon is $75.

    • OPs URLs are identical, I think they forgot to post the BGW76 link

would never spend another dime with umart / msy, they literally have the worst after sales support/service if something goes wrong!

    • Which stores would you recommend?

I've had terrible experiences with Centrecom @ Mulgrave previously - ie. got a pre-built system years ago, just to find half of it not being connected and a GPU missing when I got it home. They even tried to blame me for it, when I brought it back, saying that I stole it.

I then had issues with them when I got a PC for my parents, which had CPU/MB issues. Ended up talking to one of the tech staff, who mentioned that they routinely install defective hardware, just to upsell/charge customers for "repairs".

Never buying anything from Centercom ever again in my life. Horrific, toxic company. At least the Mulgrave branch.

Only purchased a couple of things through centrecom and no issues as of yet, not downplaying your experience though just going off my own experience with umart and reading some of the horror stories in their reviews, refunds being denied, warranties denied, goods damaged during delivery and umart blaming customers, brand new items being fixed under warranty with used parts etc, just putting my experience out there to warn others so they don't have to go through the same thing if any issues arise. Thanks for the heads up about the mulgrave centrecom branch.

Thanks for sharing your experiences too! That sounds pretty similar to my experiences with Centrecom Mulgrave. Is it just that such scummy being practices are somewhat "common" perhaps?

Definitely encourage anyone having issues like that to contact ACCC. Know your rights and don't accept dodgy business practices, regardless of the business!

@friendlyfellowhuman: Msy has been in trouble for that sort of thing (and i think fined) multiple times in years past. They refused to replace a psu i bought which failed after 9 days. Haven't shopped with them since.

I've only had good experiences with their tech repair services, this was at nunawading store.

I've had them refuse a price match, then change to exactly that price a few days later. Too late, bought it from Scorptec instead with free shipping. Arrived quick.

Umart are horrific to deal with for everything except taking your money which they are good at. Sadly I (as well as many) keep falling for it being 1-5% cheaper than the much more reliable competition.

      • Exactly! they are great at taking your money but that's where it ends, imo it's not worth saving a few bucks and then being treated like garbage when you need any form of after sales support.
