Google Find My Trackers "Airtag" Any Good?

Are the Google find my trackers tags any good yet? When they just released reviews agreed that they were rubbish against Airtags and Samsung tags but Google have constantly been claiming improvements to their tags.

Are Google find my trackers usable?

EDIT: I bought some and they are not good. Only tracks when in "high traffic" areas so unless you're in a busy area you won't have location updates for hours. Airtag in comparison gave me updates approx every 10 minutes.

interested to hear what the responses are.

I dont think they'll ever be good as the airtag system as they cant be forced out on all android devices like the apple system was.

Airtags are something you don't need, until the day you really, really need them.

I keep a cheap, bashed up iPhone 11 in the car just for Airtags, as well as a few other things like eSIM, 7-11 Choppah and Apple Pay deals. I also have an iPad at home.

As for the car, I use a 4G GPS tracker. And an Airtag of course.

Samsung and Google will never be as good as Apple. I mean have a look at how many people are using iPhones on the train, or on the bus.

Yeh last time i snuck a tag into this lady's handbag, it said she was in South Africa. I don't believe that because her passport is with me.

I was looking into this last week.

The Motorola tags seem to be the best option, as Motorola recently enabled ultrawideband support which makes tracking them a lot more accurate, showing distance and direction once you're nearby.

From what I can gather, none of the cheap Aliexpress variants have UWB support so rely on Bluetooth only — you will have to follow the beeps once you get within a few metres of them.

I think Harvey Norman were doing a deal on a 2-pack of the trackers, albeit in the less desirable colours like green and pale blue.

    • The green is the best colour in my view. Might pick one up as I need to replace my Tiles. I like that they just happen to be designed in a size that will fit airtag accessories. It is a shame they don't make one for a wallet though, as that is my primary use.

Green isn't the ideal colour if you're away camping and looking for your car keys in the grass. Don't ask me how I know.

        • I want to ask you how you know!

        • How do you know?

  • I've got a few pebblebee ones which allows me to use them on Android or Apple (but not simultaneously)… Apple ecosystem for this is clearly better, but I use Android.

  • Save your money and get Samsung or Apple tags. These Google tags are still hopeless after my testing.
