  • Hi just wondering if this is a good. Can anyone recommend it

    • This is the MR80X.
I have it and it works great. But I'm not using it outside of a few computers and few smartphones, so I can't really comment beyond that.
A lot better than the hacked tesltra smart modem I had prior to this as a cheap stop over after my previous router got fried.

I'm not really savvy to the various extra things that routers have beyond normal functionality.

I have one. Signal’s decently strong, still maxes out my gigabit NBN (closer to 800mbps) through a wall. Has basic OpenVPN support.

      No issues so far.

    • Contrary to the other commenters, I actually returned mine after a couple months. It was needing restarts multiple times per week to keep everything working. (House of 2 people with maybe half a dozen IoT devices on top of the usual PCs and phones).
When it was working, range was fairly decent though.

    • Had mine for months. 30+ devices connected. Never skipped a beat. Excellent range & performance for the price.

      • Have U got any IP cameras connected ?
If so, how's the connection vs distance.

    SHOPAPP10 didn't work for me.

  • how did you get it in $53.47

    • Sorry, my bad in wording. $53.47 in discounts.
      Router was $80.43 after discounts.

      • Hmm, following your suggestion, I could only get a maximum discount of $37.98, so the total price in the cart was $113.92.
There must something else that needs to be added

        • Same here. My cart is at $113.92 as well

        • What codes did you apply?

Should be Buy 3 Get 15% off on Select TP-Link Products.

ELEC15 (forgot the end) listed on the page but unable to see as I've used it.

I got a BE6500 on the weekend because i needed it for 500mbit NBN and it's pretty good. The WIFI7 on that one reaches further than my old router did. I just need to pair it up with another WIFI7 router and mesh it via ethernet backlink. The price difference between WIFI6 and 7 is minimal these days. May as well squeeze the dollar and go the better option.

    • Will you be setting up another BE6500 as the secondary device? So running 2 of the same router?

      • +1

Nah no need. I'll get another WIFI 7. You can get a compatible mesh router that will work with the 6500 for like $100. I'll mesh backlink it via ethernet.

My nbn is being upgraded to 750 megabits per second in the middle of this month, will the Wi-Fi 6 support this at full speed or should I be getting a Wi-Fi 7 router I have a Samsung s25 ultra that supports the WiFi 7 but not utilising it. Also does WiFi 7 speed drop off faster the further you get from the router? And is it best to have the router high off the ground to get better coverage.

    • It's less about the WIFI the router has and more about the speed of the WAN port. Lots of people who are upgrading from old NBN services may still run routers with WAN ports that's only rated to 100mbit. I'm sure the demand for upgrades will push the prices down soon.

In theory, the higher the megahertz, the closer together the radio waves are. You get more bandwidth but less range with regular omni-direcitonal antennas. You can either get a directional antenna (usually an eternal antenna that will go in 1 direciton) or omnidirectional which is more circular range. Each router has different radio strengths too. I found WIFI6 and 7 on my new router to be stronger than my old router's 5G.
