Great price for those who need and can make the use out of it!

    • just FYI alphabetically M is before W so shouldn't Men come first?

  • Are these good for heel strikers? Genuine q lol

    • Not really no. Not many race shoes are these days.

      • +2

Cheers. Might have to stick with adios pro3 or an sc elite v4 then

I actually have the AP3, Elite v4, Vapor3 and Alpha3, and I think your plan makes sense. Especially the Elite.

    • I am a heel striker and have been running in the AF3 for a while. I have not had any stability issues with them. I also have the SC Elite v3 which hardly gets any use now that I have the AF3.

  • Highly recommend the VF4. Just bought another pair, thanks OP

  • I wish I was good enough to justify these or even good enough for these to be of any use to me…good price though.

    • If you look at all the top 10 or whatever in the marathons, what do they all have in common?
      Super shoes.
So, clearly, that's all you need.

      • +1

Can confirm, I did "Couch 2 Boston Marathon" in an afternoon just by buying these shoes

        • So you are telling me I have hope? 🙏

  • +2

Thanks OP, any AF3s in Men’s US 13? I noticed the website only goes up to 12.

  • I'm no runner but when people run past me with what I believe are carbon-plate shoes, they often sound squeaky. Is that normal?

    • No, but some like the Alphafly do make more noise.

      • +1

Alphafly doesn't sound squeaky…it sounds slappy IMO from the waffle shaped outsole treads.

But yes…thick foam race shoes creates funny sounds.

  • Not a bad price. I was lucky to get the older VaporFly 3 at my local Melb DFO sale for $125 last month but this is a rare find. Plan to use for the Melb Marathon in Oct.

  • If only there was size 6.5 womens

  • ~37% off seems ok, good price. I'm sure DFO have had them cheaper but hard to time being there for a flash sale.

Are these still banned in most competitive run events? They look a bit ridiculous but not much more coin than Pegasus 41 or trail 5 at full price (totally different but would do most people for every day runners, keeping an eye out).

All versions of both shoes have always been race legal. That said, you can wear whatever you like unless you are planning to podium. Someone ran the Sydney Marathon on the weekend in a pair of thongs!

      • What was the stack height?

      • +1

Pretty sure the bloke in thongs wouldn't have won.. haha thanks for the info.

Always tempting for new runners but don't need the best racing shoes.

    • When you say ‘banned’, generally only apply to elite runners looking to win a major event, general public can run a marathon in anything.

      • Yes that. Similar to the UCI regulations for pro cyclists. No one would care about weekend warriors.

Point is they are better than most need but why not for $230. A lot of sizes went pretty quick.

    • 40cm rear stack height is the regulation. There's details in 'where' along the shoe you measure, but most of us mortals needn't worry about that.

You shouldn't need to worry about it unless you are a pro competing for ranks or a medal. If you are asking…then my guess is you are not in such a position, so yeah. it doesn't matter. Buy it, use it, enjoy your runs and health.

  • What if u get ur size wrong after trying it on for a short run

    • Unlucky, you could sell privately.

Best to try on somewhere. Nike would be TTS usually but look it up (and check stores return policy). Wouldn't be any different to any other shoe purchase.

    • eBay do a shoe Authenticity Guarantee. I don't know if there's a cost to the seller, but I picked up a couple of pairs of Asics Superblast at a good price this way.

  • Bought. Thanks! I was watching the reviews just last night so it's meant to be!

  • Might be good for dad who has plantar arthritis, is there anyone had experience if these are good for that?

    • +2

Do not get these for your dad, these are for races where runners are essentially sprinting.

Get some cushy shoes instead, something like the New Balance More or the Hoka Cliftons.

  • This is a great price.

Just keep in mind that rumour has it that the new AF4 is due out either later this year or very early in 2026. That hasn't stopped me from just placing an order for the AF3 as supply of the AF4 is likely to be very limited upon release (Nike likes to generate hype by limiting initial supply - this also has the effect of keeping prices up).

  • Great shoes for a great price. How I wish Adios 4 or Strung 3 have the same price.

  • Not available anymore?

  • Mens sold out women's still available

    • For anyone that doesn’t know the AF3’s are unisex. Equivalent is 1.5 US size difference between male and female.

  • Bought a VF4. Nice. Just in time for Melbourne Marathon. Thanks.
