Biodegradable/Compostable Dog Poo Bags

What do you use to pick up your dog's doo-doo? I want to get fully biodegradable/compostable bags and many seem to be part plastic and not able to compost/degrade in landfill. Also want to know that others can vouch for them not tearing easily so I don't get poo fingers.

    Hi @SydneySpendthrift,

I have recently opened a new business selling pet supplies and products and have some options.

I personally use the Oh Crap range.

Oh Crap = $10 for 60 bags (currently out of stock; if interested I can find out when there will be more available).
    Snooza = $30 for 180 bags or $15 for 60 bags.
Poop Bags = Let me know as I have many options and want to avoid spamming your topic.

I do have another range called Earth Rated (https://www.earthrated.com/). They're not compostable/biodegradable, but they are made from 65% certified post-consumer recycled plastic.

    • Appreciate the detailed reply and congratulations on opening up your new business! I was shopping around earlier today and can't recall whether these prices are competitive with other offerings but will take another look tomorrow!

Did you know that you can train your dog to evacuate their bowels and bladders at specific times in specific places?

No more surprise randowm deposits either throughout your lawn before mowing day, or as they meander down the footpath letting loose at will or marking their territory?

      • No problem and thank you very much!

I try and compete with the major retailers but if you have found anything listed for less than the prices I posted, please let me know and I'll see what I can do. Happy for you to send me a message.

These are good, just don't stock up too far ahead as they start degrading in the box. I think they recommend 6 months max. https://www.ohcrap.com.au/

    • Really appreciate this comment as I was initially considering buying as many as possible for bulk savings. Saw a couple of attractive options with 1k plus bags lol!

  • I’ve tried a few of them and they biodegrade too fast, and then my bin stinks and has dog shit in it.

I just use the Amazon basics ones now.

  • Why does this post and replies seem like a astroturfing campagin?

    • Probably because the first two comments were for the same product and one of them was from the guy who owns the business. However in my reply I was cordial/encouraging yet expressed a degree of skepticism over the price.

      tl;dr it's not

Just use the ones that the local councils have around the area. They are free and usually biodegradable.

    • Where do you get these? I've never come across them before

      • Really? I'm in WA. I just get mine from the park near me (not a dog park, it is just the local neighbourhood park).

Ironic that we can't use plastic brags for shopping, but they advocate for their use when picking up dog poop.

    • I think you're required to pick up the poo but nobody says you have to use plastic. I think there are even bagless scoop options

  • I've been a big fan of these from a company in Newcastle.
