its going to happen to every wireless device that's sitting in a metal faraday cage. Get a wired themometer with wifi, that way the wifi unit sits outside the smoker.
I have old reliable Bluetooth wired Inkbird as well, was hoping to use this to make it easier when moving the meat from my kitchen to smoker.
That's interesting. I was going to pull the trigger until I saw your comment … I went onto Amazon to check reviews (currently 471 reviews) but not really seeing this as a pattern? I don't know if you have lead shielding on your smoker or the base unit is far or if it's just a lemon, but if it's a widespread problem I reckon it'd pretty apparent …
Yeah it's odd, I think I might have a lemon as I did check reviews before purchasing as well. I'll follow up with Inkbird, it's just a GMG smoker I don't think it has anything crazy on the drum.
Happens a lot in my ceramic Kamado. The meater ones are just rubbish.
It’s a very common issue with wireless thermometers for a lot of bbqs.
It’s one of those YMMV scenarios. Unless you can get confirmation for your exact bbq.
I have 2 of the single probe versions that I've used in my smoker multiple times without issues. Could be a lemon.
If you got a lemon then there's a lot of us who did. The thing is a dud. Pretty much useless. It's a shame though all their wired ones (I had the 2 probe and currently using the 6XS and I also have their instant read) are faultless and bulletproof.
Ripper deal, the normal price Amazon drops down to on sale is $99
Have a pair of these.
Had to warranty the black one as it died, process was pretty smooth.
I did have it going over a spit for a few hours so maybe this did it.
For the price this is a good deal, works no problems inside my kitchen oven.
Would recommend.
I've got this product and the connection is really bad, if I have the probes in my smoker they both lose connection which makes it pointless. Unsure if I've got a lemon as I've only used it twice so far with the same issues.
