Two decent options if you are after a fairly good foldable phone. Harvey Norman are offering either $2000 off the price of the phone on the 24 month plan, or $2299 off on the 36 month plan. They sell the phone for $2299. So essentially Pay $299 for the phone and go on a $69 per month Optus plan for 2 years, or get the phone for free and go on a $69 per month plan for 3 years. Offer only available in store.

Where did you find the $690 figure?

Thanks

Wow this seems like a great deal

so if my math's are right its around 299+276(69*4)+690=1265 (cancelling after 4months) for a $2299/- phone

Similar to the initial preorder/launch prices 12 months ago. 10 Pro Fold is coming out in a month. Don't get me wrong, this is the cheapest deal if you want this phone now. This would be a great deal for the 10 Pro Fold, or Z Fold7.

So is it reasonable to expect it again for Pro Fold 10? I’m not really sure if there’s a pattern?

A similar deal might happen for the Pro Fold 10, but may be waiting many months for it.

@Pratty: It did not. There were pre-order deals like https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/864832, but it only brought the price down to around 2000. (2697 retail - 1450 + 765 for cancelling the $99 plan).
There were much better presale deals on the Pro and Pro XL - I went with the Pro XL, which ended up costing me around $950 iirc (something like $200 up front plus the 765 for plan cancellation).
So you may be able to get a Pixel 10 Pro / XL for around 1000-1200, but I doubt the Fold will be at that price.
I'm thinking about getting the 9 Fold anyway w/ this Optus/HN deal because I am happy to commit to the Pixel ecosystem after a year with it. I'll probably sell my XL for $800-900 and then repeat in a year with the 11

any decent Pixel 10 Pro Fold deals ?

Where does the $690 come from?

Tempted to do this.
Any tips or pros/cons from experience bargainers??
Don't ask the staff DIRECTLY about cancellation like you intended to do it.
ALWAYS do your own homework before you go to the store.

was cheaper to buy on plans when launched last year.

not for the fold

It's a shame that Harvey Norman has introduced 3 year mobile phone contract 😮💨

Does also mean that your handset is warrantied for a minimum of 3 years though.

not true, these are sim only plans, phones are outright and not part of plan

That'll get tested soon enough. No way you're selling 3 year SIM plans to go with an outright phone and not having customers quoting ACL and reasonably expect the phone to last that long.

This is already very enticing for someone like my dad lol. Owns a Z Fold3 and is open to going on these types of plans so paying $69/mth for 2 years + the $299 upfront for him (getting a $2.6k MSRP phone for $2k basically) is a win to him. Only gripe is Porcelain is barely available now…
Any chance this is just to clear 9PF stock with 10PF coming in around Oct?
Edit: it probably is anyway. Oh well. Might have to see what 10PF has in stock closer to launch maybe

Am I doing this right?

100% buy insurance if you're getting one of these
I dropped it once after 3 months and the inside screen is cooked unfortunately (cost like $1300 to replace so not going to bother)
I take pretty good care of my things but it got caught on my pocket when taking it out and one drop just cooks the inside, (it was closed) works perfectly fine as a normal phone now though.

Just curious, did you have a protective case on your phone?

Yeah I had a case on it, unfortunately the inside screen gets a small crack and the whole screen goes, then as you fold and unfold it slowly goes down the whole screen
Definitely buy an insurance plan, thats the only thing I regret as I did like the inside screen.

Had the same thing occur! The hinge is the Achilles heel! Was in a case, which covers EVERYTHING EXCEPT FOR THE HINGE!

Very good price

Friend works at JB. Says foldable phones have the most returns because the hinges break easily, regardless of brand.
If you get one, be careful with it. I really wish the Surface Duo was still a thing. I'd rather have 2 separate screens.

Never seen the hinge be a problem… as someone who has family which owned multiple generations of Fold/Flip series, that has never been the problem for them lol. You don't have to be very careful with foldables; of course it's more fragile than a typical slab phone. But you can abuse it a little and it's gonna shrug it off.
Just don't be crazy with them and you'll be fine

I really do want one. The Pixel 10 Fold. Maybe one day.

I would have jumped on this, but last time I went on Optus I hated the coverage, then my data was leaked…

rubbed my eyes - yep it's not Fold 10. Sighhhh

9?
I thought it is 10 Fold Pro LMAO

I had a really frustrating experience with my Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4. The phone needed repairs twice while it was still under warranty. Then, not long after the warranty expired, it broke again with the same issue. This time Samsung quoted me $1,050 for the repair. Considering this is supposed to be one of Samsung’s flagship devices, I expected it to last much longer without constant problems. Having it fail multiple times (and right after the warranty ended) really makes me question the quality of the device. Has anyone else had a similar experience with the Fold series? Did you manage to get Samsung to cover the repair outside of warranty?

Samsung is impossible to deal with out of warranty, they are notorious for this. even if you are entitled to remedy under ACL.

Mine had the inside screen replaced just before the warranty ran out, I took it into an authorised repair store.
The rear glass was cracked, he fixed that first which I paid for, then claimed it on warranty for me (he said they would deny it if it showed damage)
It has been fine since, he did say when they do it, they replace the whole chassis and batteries, battery life has been fantastic! it's stopped me wanting to get a new phone for a while.
Whats been the issue with yours? (I have the 4 too)

If Samsung warranty is bad, has anyone ever got any warranty out of Hardly Normal?

samsung warranty is usually fine, but out of warranty AKA ACL claims are impossible with them unless you are willing to fight for months

I've had good experiences with Samsung at the physical stores. Complete opposite online where they precharge the costs for repairs prior to allowing you to send it in for assessment. I've successfully had my screen protector and screen fixed twice (once outside of warranty) with ACL.
However I think you need to accept that you probably will need at least a screen protector reapplication within the 2 year warranty period. I wouldn't purchase one unless you are in a major metropolitan centre and can get to a physical Samsung store.

My second Pixel fold 9 just died. No more for me. Huge hassle every time it dies. Purched from HN. Not the best to deal with.

HN means Huge Nogo

No more Pixels, or no more foldables?

I was about to sign up to the Optus plan directly through Optus but this has piqued my interest. Is it the same plan as what Optus advertise for $69/mth? I particularly wanted to get it for number sharing with my Pixel watch. Adding a Pixel Fold to the mix seems nice (I have the Pixel 9 Pro XL but might donate to my wife)

Inclusions are different - +$10 for international calls, 100GB data but the HN plans ARE optus, you can add number sharing

Quick update, went in store today and these phones are actually on sale for $1698. This made the phone free with the plan signup offer.

Any idea on any HN pre-order deals for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold? I know there wasn’t any great ones for the 9P fold on launch but any likelyhood of the 10? Fingers crossed!
