Shame, the body weighs as much as the head.
Stop with the body shaming
World needs bullying right now
What about head shaving?
Just need to repurpose or make a recipe that uses them. I make a mean seafood linguine that uses them or make a simple stock. Or better yet, cook them whole and suck out their brains
+1 to this. Heads are delicious! You can crush them and make a beautiful and versatile stock, if you don’t feel comfortable cosplaying as a zombie and eating some brains!
If you crush the heads flat on a hot plate they make the most lovely crispy prawn chips…and authentic, unlike the ones you get from Chinese takeaway!
@pierrejb: Wow, never thought about this. The most I would do - after sucked out their brain, was used for compose
@pierrejb: Great thinking! Every now and then I'm happy to expose my ignorance and learn something :)
Like old mate above they went to the bin / compost
is the head safe to eat since it's not fresh, but thawed? that was my worry
Me surprised no one talk about this farm or wild caught. It said Grown in Australia. Means farm?
The product description on the woolies website says wild caught
At least they look 100% real prawn and real meat
Last round premium size and fresh from Coles. Whole family happy.
Radioactive
prawnsshrimp are specifically for the US market, help them grow some brain cells quick
I wish the staff would clean them for me. I'd prefer buying from the local stores as they peel the prawns for me, saves me so much time because I'm quite slow. And we lose 1/2 the weight, so 1kg prawns yields approx 500grams, so really, we need to buy 2kg to get 1kg of meat.
If you can learn some Chinese cooking way. The chef use prawn heads to make kind of juice, then cook the tails in the juice. So, you can save 1/2.
This, keep all the raw shells and heads and make a mean seafood stock
Yep, I take some heads home for stock too.
It's just the cleaning part that I prefer my local fish store for.
PLUS, support local businesses, PLUS give less profit for ColesWorth, PLUS get the prawns cleaned for me and some other good fish deals while I'm there, so win win win for me all around!
Do you also expect Supercheap Auto to wash your car when you buy some car shampoo?
I'm pretty sure they have frozen peeled prawns in the freezer.
Peeled prawns are always either from Vietnam or China. I rather buy Australia's prawns.
You're right. That's why I go local.
Yes exactly ! Just peel the prawns leave tail on , then boil up heads and shells to make stock for some Tom yum soup. Awesome !
Pro tip: if you're planning on sticking these prawns up your bum, be careful of the spikes, i learnt that one the hard way!
sticking these prawns up your bum
WTF ?
Thawed for your convenience 👍
not for me
Would Coles price-match this?
Asking for a friend.I've been to four Woolworths stores in the Illawarra and not one of them had these in stock yesterday or today. :/
thanks op, got one stacked with everyday extra 10% off, it was such a steal!!
shame the head weighs as much as the body
