Has anyone ever received a refund for an undelivered item… but the item was actually delivered?
Email states “You ordered the items below, but the package was returned to us by the carrier. We’ve issued your refund.”
The item was over $400, but I can see the refund back to my original payment method

Except you are legally required to if they ask for it, or return the item.
Yes, it does happen. If you contact them, they'll tell you to keep it or dispose of it, because there's no mechanism to return it to them.

The most I got from Amazon was 4 bottles of Dove body wash.
After checking, it was sent by mistake in-between S&S regular orders.
But I bet you smell nice.

This has happened to me a few times. Sometimes I've remained silent, in other times I've contact their customer support. When contacting their customer support, the response has been (basically) 'keep the item and thanks for informing them - no further action required'.
However, none of my items have been $400 in value.
I had a similar issue when Amazon changed to Aramex where I used to live. Delivery times were over 2 weeks, and Amazon considered it lost every time. Would get a refund then a few days later the package would be delivered.
Support said to keep the item if it did show up. I just saw it as their incompetence was my gain, a very profitable gain over the space of 2 months. Then Aramex suddenly stopped getting the tender for the area… Couldn't understand why.

Don't think I've ever gotten a refund after something has been delivered but have I gotten quite a number of things for free that were deemed lost and have arrived at a later date.
I had the reverse. Amazon refused to refund and not delivered. Over $1000
not delivered or claimed to be delivered and/or stolen?

Yes, It's happened to me before with a set of Bluetooth headphones (worth $350 at the time). 7 days past the delivery window Amazon refunded $, headphones arrived 5 days later.
Contacted them to let them know the headphones had arrived and was told, it was fine to keep them despite refund being processed….
Experienced similar in past years as well.
Had it happen once with a vaccum that was the same value ($398).. I had put an order, after 1 week the retailer called to say they couldnt get anymore stock and had to cancel the order with a full refunds.. I said FFS it was a $200 discount on the black Friday and they said they couldnt do anything..
2 days later, delivery arrived.. I was so angry at their behaviour that I didnt call them but it took me over a week to come to terms with it lol.
Story continues, just a month before warranty end, the battery died.. called the manufacturer and they sent me a free battery.
It felt like I had never won so much in my life lol.
im having the opposite the problem,
I returned a faulty stick of memory, they wanted to return it to original payment method (28 degrees card) which i cancelled a year ago.
I told them this so they gave me a credit.
I ordered the Dettol which was cancelled, the other item in the order was returned, I had to ask for a refund on the 2nd item as they said it is undeliverable
I ordered the 2nd item again twice and both undeliverable
Now I am fed up and have contacted jeff@ and au.customer service and they want to eat my refund as it "promotional credit" because I am frustrated by the continued cancellations and wanted to close my account.
Some things just go a bit funny and end up undeliverable. Maybe it's just bad luck? I order a lot of stuff from Amazon and get the occasional cancelled/undeliverable item.
I had a refund for a parcel delivered to the wrong house. Had a look a few hiyses each side. Got on chat and they said photo not your front door have a refund. That evening guy down the road dropped it off.

I had Amazon refund a Kindle which eventually arrived over a month later but it had been remotely bricked by Amazon. When I asked them to charge me for it again and unbrick it they refused and told me to just buy a new one and keep the bricked one as well?
I looked into it once and it involved opening it up and soldering it. I don't have an iron and don't care enough to buy one just for this
I ordered a product for about $60 that was lost in transit from US to AU. Amazon advised they were refunding due to it being lost, but told me the product might eventually arrive, which it did, a couple of months late. They didn't ask for either the product or the money back.
Reviewing the comments this has happened to a lot of OPs. Yep it happened to me once. Delivered to the wrong house. A few days later some kind unknown soul delivered our parcel to our home. Must cost Amazon more than a few dollars but I guess Jeff can afford it.
Not the same but I ordered a steam iron worth $50 from Amazon and got a coffee machine worth $300. I kept it and bought a steam iron from my local JB HIFI. I'm a regular Amazon customer but I think the picker at the warehouse made the mistake because it had my name on it.
