  • Uber Eats gift cards can also be redeemed at Uber.
  • You can switch payment method in the Uber app or Uber Eats app within 30 days. You can buy this discounted Uber Eats gift card to pay past purchases that you paid with bank card.

There is no difference between a regular Uber gift card and an Uber Eats gift card – both can be used for either purpose.

App only: Switch payment hack

A unique feature of Uber’s payment system is that it allows you to change the payment method on purchases you made up to 30 days ago. This means you can buy Uber gift cards when they’re on sale and use them retroactively.

After you’ve added your Uber gift cards to your account, open up the Uber app or Uber Eats app and go to the ride or order you previously made. Select the receipt for that ride or order and then scroll down to where it says Switch Payment Method.

Provided you have enough in your gift card balance to cover the total purchase, you should then be given the option to switch the payment method to use Uber Cash. Your original payment method (e.g. credit card, PayPal etc) will then be refunded.

Note that there have been reports that switching the payment is not possible for rides and orders paid for with Apple Pay or Google Pay.

    Tried to switch payment to use Uber Cash, but that option isn’t showing up for me.

      I did it a few weeks ago in the app. App is glitchy as it didn't show up initially.

      If it's still not available, please contact customer service to change for you.

        Yeah, I was able to do it last week with ease. But today, Uber Cash doesn’t show up as an option - just shows already added credit cards. Weird!

                      I tried switching and it didnt work and now the rep is saying that they cant switch due to some restrictions!
                      What can i do in this instance as i only purchased this gift card to switch

    10% off Him/Active gift cards at Woolies at the moment, which can be converted to Uber/Uber Eats. Better than having to worry about cashback.

      Cashback for these Uber/Uber Eats gift cards isn't usually an issue at ShopBack.
