FREERIDEWEDS

Code applies on Wednesdays only. Applying code on any other day results in "not eligible" error

Received this via email, it also worked for a friend yesterday so it doesn't seem targeted.

A free ride to the value of $15 every Wednesday in September. In the app, you need to first go into the Promotions section and enter the promo code before booking the ride.

Go somewhere with a friend and they can book the free ride back. Enjoy!

Code not eligible for me, ymmv.

Possibly because it's not Wednesday. Give it another go then and test it.

        Lousy Whursday weather.

just asked their customer service, turns out it’s only in Canberra… guess it’s ‘cause of the flower fest.

So apply the code on Wednesdays only?

    • Yep

    cannot apply…not eligible…

      • oh I see. Thanks for quick reply

Did you even read the title?

  • Is it unlimited on Wednesday or one trip only?

    • +3

As per the image: "A free ride every Wednesday (capped at $15)".

Sent out on a Thu… I just did a ride yesterday with them, lol

I received the email yesterday and successfully used it yesterday, just didn't get in front of my laptop to put it here until this morning. Chin up, three more Wednesdays to go.

For those wondering DiDi ran this promo in Aug too, but it was for Saturdays only

    • too late, shouldve posted the deal BG

  • Their promos often seem very unsustainable. I get massive % or $ off coupons spammed at me constantly and even if the drivers were getting the entire $ amount they would still barely be covering petrol. Are they about to go bust?
And last time I did use them which was about 2 years ago, the driver was an insane lunatic with a 30 year old unroadworthy car who never ended the trip until an hour afterwards and I had to dispute it..

Nah, commie will keep laundering big C Yuan out of the country.
Any real dollar squeezed out of a yuan is a profit - same as other puppet corps from the big C.

I dont care. They keep Uber cheap, that's all we need

        • Yeah of course, just milk it while it lasts, as always.
At least, we can take advantage of it.

      • Found the optimist

I'm looking forward to use it next week.

According to customer support, this promotion is intended only for Canberra and Wellington.

    • I see! I'm in Canberra so that would make sense. Interesting to see whether it'll work for others.

      • Ah, that makes sense. Gotta incentivise people for living in Canberra.

I could move my job to Melbourne or Sydney next week if I wanted to. Canberra is a good mid-sized place with minimal congestion and decent facilities. It's not a bucket list holiday destination, but for a day to day setup it's a strong option.

  • I’ve had several bad experiences with Didi recently, enough to make me give up and go to Uber and pay more. 2/2 times drivers have accepted the ride and then just done laps around the suburb or worse park around the corner when I need to get to the airport. Telling them I’m not cancelling eventually made them eat the cancellation fee but I don’t need the hassle.

Fully enshittified for me right now, sadly. They used to be the value option once OLA left.

  • Has anyone tried applying FREERIDETHUR or FRI, etc

    • No, but you should try and let us know?

    Got excited until seeing ATC

  • so its free or its 15$? which is it?

  • I've switched from Uber to Didi, generally cheaper, and also they pay the drivers better (based on feedback from numerous Uber drivers)
