Primo Rindless Short Cut Bacon 750g $8.40

    🥓

  • I always go to ALDI for my grocery shopping, unless ALDI doesn't sell what I'm looking for.

    • -1

Yep short cut bacon is cheaper at aldi and is normal price not just one off promo.

      https://www.aldi.com.au/product/berg-short-cut-bacon-1kg-000…

      • -1

You're comparing price of homebrand product with brand name. Not a fair comparison.

Aldi doesn't stock Primo! There is a taste difference.

Homebrand is always cheaper, even at every day price at Coles ($11.50/kg).

Importantly ignores use of Flybuys @Coles…
At Coles receive 25% off. So its $8.63/kg!!
        Quite a saving over Aldi💰

(Flybuys $50 credit back on 4 weekly $50 shops) Received offer over most weeks this year! Weekly shop is usually $50. Buying bacon this week.

        • The one difference in ingredients between aldi brand and primo is "wood smoked" vs "smoke", and if you can taste that difference then spend the extra money. Nobody is telling you not to.

  • Wheres the best basmati rice for its value i can get?

    • -1

I like the Woolies branded one…

      https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/598743

      $18 / 5kg ($16.20 if you get 10% off each month)

    • Daawat brand 5kg for $12.50 "spring price" at Woolies, I'd say.

      • This is ours go to as well.

    • Indian stores mate.
India Gate Classic is top of the line, $30 ish for 5kgs.
You get entry level grains for $10 for 5kgs, but go for the $20ish for nice fragrance and long grains.

  • +3

    Aldi wins

    • -2

No. Only if you ignore use of Flybuys @Coles…

Receive 25% off with Flybuys ($50 credit back on 4 weekly $50 shops most weeks this year)

Got to shop wisely, not just at a particular store you're a fan of! Aldi is too expensive for me!

      • +1

        Very misleading comment…
If you are lucky enough to get those deals from flybuys good on you, but the majority of people do not, and are fed much higher tiers to meet for the same discount. Plus they are hit and miss on a weekly basis, meaning you will not get those awesome deals week after week consistently. It’s a Cole’s scam to make you buy more.

Most people I know just want to buy groceries at fair prices day in day out, without being ripped off with gimmicks, marketing tactics, saver memberships, cards etc etc. It’s a grocery store for gods sake, how did it get to this?

        • -2

Received offers most weeks this year.
          Have 2 accounts.
If they increase spend amount, just change to other account. Only once spent $60 min this year.

          • @INFIDEL: That is the essence of my comment, I don’t want all that BS, I just want fair priced groceries without the BS.
            Aldi wins

            • -1

@Pistnbroke: I shop where I get the most benefit.
Sorry Aldi fan, That's NOT Aldi!

Shelf price is only part of the cost. Points can make a great difference.

Got to learn how to get the best out of points.
With 25% off most weeks @Coles, I just buy what I want. Far less hassle. Not swayed by the gimmicks.

Used to get great offers from Woolies ($20 back on $40 spend etc). Occasionally receive 2000pt for 1c min spend. Received $76 for $3+ spend in 1 shop recently. So have hundreds of Rewards Dollars to spend there.

Aldi is a short walk away, but rarely shop there.
With their low quality cloned products I've tried, I've given up on Aldi.

              • @INFIDEL: Flybuys and Extra Rewards work when there are easily good offers like your 4 shop weeks offer your promoting. But not everyone has those offers every time they shop, even with multiple accounts. I still use woolies and coles, just if something is cheaper at aldi im going to buy it at aldi unless coles has some insane deal.

For example these 2 products (~32%) cheaper at aldi and exactly the same ingredients:

                https://www.aldi.com.au/product/yoguri-hi-protein-authentic-…
                https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/717518?goo…

I cant taste the difference and nobody in my family can, so why pay extra at the checkout to "potentially" save more later

                • @Plutolio: Aldi clones are very suspect, with identical nutritional panels with name brands they copy.
That's just not possible, but people believe what Aldi tell them…

Aldi has been taken to court for passing off their clone as the brand developed product

There is no independent testing of their claims, and little penalty if caught out!!

I cant taste the difference and nobody in my family can

That is a worry!! Commonly said by Aldi Fans!
I certainly can taste the difference, having worked in food production & trained by a champion chef.

It's a worry. So i refuse to buy Aldi clones.

As I've commented about cloned Aldi products on previously.

                  • @INFIDEL: There is also no independent testing of other food brands like primo/nestle, and no big food company has known to do anything bad to cut costs… /s

                    • @Plutolio: Big brands spend their money on product development & marketing, Aldi pays legal team to defend theirs…

Aldi clones taste of a rip off by lawyers.
                      Enjoy your Aldi clones.

                      • @INFIDEL: Big brands spend their money on advertising do you know how to read a public balance sheet?

                        • @Plutolio: Yes, as a former consultant to multinational companies (& an Aldi supplier) in my own consultancy business.
Do you understand the food industry & it's laws?

Aldi rides on big brand's marketing budgets to sell its clones.
Saving them a fortune as "Good Different" - hinting that its clones are being "passed off" as good as the original in the minds of unaware or inexperienced Aldi shoppers!!

Just like "Rolix" watches & other clones do to con unwary shoppers in overseas markets.

People convince themselves it's just as good as the real product…

                          • @INFIDEL:

People convince themselves it's just as good as the real product…

So what your saying is people cant tell the difference and pay a cheaper price….good to know you agree

                            • @Plutolio: If you lack the experience to know what food should taste like - yes keep eating the Aldi crap.

Most people gain experience in life & food, leaning there is much better out there.
I was happy with Australian Cheddar, until spent time eating a wide variety of cheeses in France.
May be time to broaden your experience & liberate your Aldi tastebuds😊

Your are almost as good as Aldi at spinning BS to suit you!
Keep buying the Aldi clones - support their lawyers!

                              • @INFIDEL:

@Plutolio: Your are almost as good as Aldi at spinning BS to suit you!

Says the person who thinks Flybuys is doing a good thing their "deals" that you just have to open multiple accounts, track all these accounts and deals that are active, to even get a deal worth shopping for

                                • @Plutolio: As I've suggested for years here - be smart & get the best out of loyalty systems.

Multiple accounts are very easy. Set them up many years ago.
Just select the best offer & save plenty💰💰

Pity you think being loyal to only Aldi saves you on your shopping😂

Still time to learn how to save more💰

                              • @INFIDEL: I like how you assume i only eat aldi foods, your mind is so tiny its cute. You cant even read comments above saying i shop between coles, woolworths and aldi.

Training sales reps for major food companies selling into all supermarkets. Learning how the supermarkets really operate.

@INFIDEL: I applaud you, as you are making me richer. Keep buying at Woolies and Cole’s and keep getting ripped off. The more you are ripped off the bigger dividends I get.

By the way your stupid comments about Aldi food not tasting the same as Australian brands is ridiculous. Do you think if you went to another country the different brands you buy there of the same food is going to identical in taste to Australian brands? Of course they won’t!

                                                    • @Pistnbroke: My ambition is to exploit evey loyalty program at Coles & Woolies - driving down profits & dividends. I can only try. And pocket the savings💰😂

I'd do the same at Aldi, BUT…
Aldi doesn't have public shareholders to worry about that. And no need to share details with the public. It's a privately owned multinational company😜

Lol! Keep on believing in your beloved multinational Aldi😜😜

                                                      No! YOU seem very confused…
Maybe take a lie down for a while.

It was you who said you cant tell the difference - between name brand products & Aldi.

I cant taste the difference and nobody in my family can

                                                      To which I replied:
I certainly can taste the difference between Aldi & name brand Aldi copied.

                                                      • @INFIDEL: Maybe write that for someone who asked and cares?
