Hi all, looking to upgrade from my i7 2600k.
I just missed the deal on the Ryzen 7700 for just over $200, I can get the 7500f for $194 now or would it be worth waiting for the 7700 to drop again?
I mainly use the PC for gaming, photo editing and a bit of 3d modelling. I’m currently at 1080p but want to upgrade to 1440p in the future.
Yeah I think I’ll wait for a better deal, I am planning to build a new pc, I built my current one in 2013 and have been upgrading bits and pieces over the years as needed but I am starting to notice slowdowns from the cpu.
I would go for a newer one; there were plenty of deals available recently here. I would go for Ryzen 9 or i9. I had an i5-2400 for a long time, then upgraded to 5600x a couple of years back, but had upgraded to 13900k within a year or 2, the performance boost was huge.

Even at current prices I'd still get a 7700. The extra two cores sound useful to you and it's easier to spend an extra $60 now than bother upgrading later on.
But AMD chips seem to come in and out of sale all the time.
Wouldn't the 7700 be the better choice if you are doing 3D modeling? It has 2 more cores.
Or why not spend a bit more to future-proof yourself?
Are you actually planning to stick the CPU into your existing PC or build a new one?
