Dell Se2425hg 24" Gaming Monitor - Thoughts / Feedback

In July 2025 there was a deal posted for the Dell SE2425HG 200hz gaming monitor.

It's a reasonably new monitor and I haven't found a single review for it. Has anyone out there used it and do you have any thoughts / feedback about it?

Cheers.

  • 24" 1080p monitor in 2025? Too small and too low res to be a good experience for either productivity or gaming..

    • Depends how spoilt you are.

  • 55% of gamers on Steam play 1080p, 20% @ 1440p and just 5% @ 2160p: https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey

Lots of kids playing basic games on hand-me-down devices. You can do better.

Unless you don't want to? You haven't specified any requirements or budget criteria, just asked for thoughts.

You're right. I was thinking my gaming PC was looking great on my 24" 1080p 100Hz monitor….. Until I plugged it into my 4K TV.
Wow, what a difference. Even at 1440p, it's a massive upgrade. Not even any noticeable lag. Maybe not good enough for competitive fps games, but amazing for the games I play. Not sure what to do with my 24" monitor now.

          Sell it to OP.

          • @brendanm: I ain't buying it. If ForkSnorter sees a massive upgrade @ 1440p on a native 4K TV panel, probably means his 24" is naaasty.

    • That sucks - poor buggers :(

    • If there is ability to filter by country then it will be a completely different story.

      • Unfortunately the steam hardware survey doesn't give a breakdown by country. I was surprised when I first found out how common 1080p for gaming is. Did a bit of digging and found this: https://gs.statcounter.com/screen-resolution-stats/desktop/

Its not directly comparable with with the Steam survey because it covers all desktop uses, not just gaming. I can't vouch for the quality and integrity of the data, but it also says that 1080p is the most common resolution in used in Australia and the world as a whole. Interestingly, China is one of the very few countries where 2160p use is high enough (9.36% of all monitors) to register a separate category. Not what I was expecting.

As per my post, I'm asking for feedback on that particular monitor.

    Reasons Gamers Choose 1080p:

    Cost-Effectiveness
    - Affordable Monitors: 1080p monitors are generally cheaper than higher resolution options like 1440p or 4K.
    - Budget-Friendly Gaming: Many gamers find that they can get high refresh rates at 1080p without spending a lot.

    Performance Advantages
    - Higher Frame Rates: Gaming at 1080p allows for better frame rates, which is crucial for competitive gaming. Lower resolutions can lead to smoother gameplay.
    - Less Strain on Hardware: 1080p requires less graphical power, making it easier for older or less powerful systems to run games smoothly.

    Visual Quality
    - Sufficient for Many Games: For many titles, especially those with simpler graphics, 1080p looks good enough. Players often find that the visual difference between 1080p and higher resolutions is not significant for their gaming experience.
    - Sharpness: A native 1080p display can sometimes appear sharper than a higher resolution display set to 1080p.

    Personal Preference
    - Familiarity: Some gamers have been playing at 1080p for years and are comfortable with it. They may not feel the need to upgrade.
    - Multitasking: Many gamers prefer 1080p for multitasking, as it allows for easier window management on their screens.

    Conclusion
    - Overall, gamers choose 1080p for a combination of affordability, performance, and personal preference. It remains a popular choice, especially for those who prioritize frame rates and smooth gameplay over ultra-high resolutions.

Hey, I have this monitor for a month and it's been great. colors are good ( not the best color accuracy but still great ). it has VRR and the resolution at this size does not look bad, brightness is great. Let me know if you have any questions. Also you don't need to explain why you want 1080p.

    • Great, thanks. How is it for gaming - any noticeable ghosting or overshoot? Did you run a Blurbusters UFO test? How is the OSD and are there any options for tuning or overdrive settings? How is grey scale performance - do blacks look black (for an IPS)? A lot to ask for but I appreciate any feedback.

I'll check later on, will probably let you know tomorrow. but from my usage, I did not see any ghosting. the blacks are good if you calibrate the colors but not as good as other IPS monitors
