If you actually open the listing it tells you pretty quickly the answer in the pics built in battery …
Not a fan of them for simple devices for when they inevitably stop holding charge but the device is otherwise fine.

From experience, do yourself a favour and get the meater plus. Best meat I've ever cooked using this thing. Worth the price, and I regret not purchasing it years ago
Do they ever go on sale? Heard they’re a good bit of kit - but the initial cost is a bit of a difficult pill to swallow.
I'm not too sure. I agree the price is steep, but after cooking full roasts, chickens, steaks etc and not having to open the lid, full info to the phone, including time to rest, it is the best tasting meat I have ever cooked. It's a life changer, think of it as a investment. I bought mine 6 months ago and I've easily made (in my opinion) restaurant quality meals 😬
Edit: you can go to shops and still see what your cooking is doing via bluetooth
