The remnants of human civilization are threatened by gigantic creatures breeding beneath the earth. You must control powerful mechs from the future to hold off this alien threat. Each attempt to save the world presents a new randomly generated challenge in this turn-based strategy game from the makers of FTL.
Same - I've only beaten the game with 2 out of the 10 squads that I have unlocked.
To my surprise, the first squad that I successfully beat the game with was the Mist Eaters (the squad that specialises in using smoke). Essentially covered the whole map with smoke that neutralised every enemy unit whilst my units were immune to the smoke effects. I think I also got a bit lucky with some weapon upgrades that worked well with smoke.
Even though I suck at this game, I still love it so much!
If you haven't tried this already, I recommend playing with all of the "advanced content" options turned off until you get the hang of it. Makes the game more manageable.
It's a hard game if you don't think a few turns ahead. Great fun though.
