Any recommendations for a plug and play NAS that I can attach to the asus rt86u via ethernet or usb 3 with 2 drives in duplicate raid for home backup?
preferably reliable, low power use and simple!
Thanks

How do I get auto redundancy and backup with 1 drive?
There are many 2-bay DAS with RAID0 or RAID1 built in, and it will appear as a single volume when plugging into your computer's USB. Although personally I'll let the OS handles the RAID rather than the hardware.
Could a mini PC not do this? I recently bought a 2019 HP mini PC (running Windows 11) for something else, from a well rated seller on eBay for under $200.
Just be mindful of router RAM if you use USB3.
Not the best place for advice. Whirlpool and Reddit are better. I use a DS220+ that backs up daily online for backups. Considering Synology are now forcing their own HDDs on later models, you could look for DS224+. Plenty of options for refurbished HDDs as well.
I have an ODROID-HC4 https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/odroid-hc4/. CPU is weak but it's cheap and can take two 3.5" or 2.5" drives.
Hard drives are pretty expensive these days …
Maybe get a external drive and plug into router?
