Isn’t this better? Comes with free standing dok?

Its not really a free dok if it costs $50 more tho is it?

  • Just on time! Father's Day sorted! Thanks

Still sad I missed out on the $300 V8 from a few months ago

    • They'll be cleared out soon to make way for the new v8 cyclone

      • How good

      • -1

        Will it be much better?

        • +1

New one seems to be v10 internals in a v8 body

      • Looks like they added an extra cell so now it runs on 25.2V (previous versions 21.6V). The 18V power tool batteries that many of us like to use may no longer be enough for these newer Dyson models.

Cheer up friend things will get better

If you don't mind refurbs, dyson ebay has them rn for about $270

I'm so confused with all the versions now. Used to be so much easier when it was just "higher v number = new model = better". Now older v models coexist with newer ones, and there are some that don't use numbers. Anyway, just my Sunday morning rant. Nothing to see here, move along /r

    • It's like they saw Roborock and thought 'yes'

    • I looked at a bunch of reviews and testing. I like the V11 emptying method compared to the V8.

Example video that compares them - https://youtu.be/r1mlPSE9rjI?si=jCFEaIx8W7ASPMao

Dysons are around the middle of the video.

      I'm pretty tempted.

        Having had a V7, V8 and V11 I'll give you my thoughts.
V11 is very big and heavy, yes the bin emptying mechanism in theory is more convenient but in practice it's not as reliable. Lots of reports of the entire dust bin sliding off the rail and landing in the rubbish bin, sealing rings falling off. I've experienced both myself and had to buy replacement parts.
I always go back to my trusty V7. It's the oldest but the lightest, most reliable and easy to maintain. Does my entire dining and living area with some battery remaining. All original parts, only things I've needed to replace are the filters which are dirt cheap on temu/AliExpress.

Have a read of reviews of the recently released V16.
        Edit here you go

        • Are you still going with original battery with the v7?

          • +1

@bashar20: On the v7, no that died years ago. Dyson batteries a generally known for being sh1te and expensive. Bought an adaptor and use 18V ozito batteries which regularly go on sale here for as little as $20 each. The v11 never gets used and is on its original battery.

The bin, main body, motor and cyclone are original and still in great condition.

            • @Kelpei: How is battery life with v7 using the Ozito battery and which capacity did you use?
Can you charge the battery by plugging cable into Dyson. Or do you charge using Ozito charger?
My v7 battery is 3yrs old and I am considering going with your advice.

              • +1

                @bashar20: 2.5Ah. It comes with a charger too. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/914555

I get at least 25-30mins of run time on hard floors. You must remove the battery to charge it. This also means that you cannot store the v7 in the wall dock (if you have one). Doesn't bother me I just store it in the cupboard.

                • @Kelpei: Awesome. I already have a few Ozito batteries floating around and can buy more.
Got a link for the adapter?
                  Cheers

Thanks for your insight. I think I would like the lighter weight of the V8 after thinking about it a bit. This would be to supplement a corded vac that does the whole house.

          • +1

@FiveDarrah: Once my v7 dies, I will use the V8. They are 99% the same vacuum. If you have hard floors like timber, tiles, concrete then I recommend getting the soft fluffy roller head. It's quieter, more manoeuvrable and gentler than the motorbar cleaner head that comes with the unit. Finally, from a vacuum technician friend of mine, use the corded vacuum to clean the V8's cyclones periodically. It's a 10 second job and one of the easiest and effective ways to maintain suction. You will be surprised at how much dust gets stuck in there, just watch one of the V8 tear apart videos.

            • @Kelpei: How do you use a vacuum to clean the Dyson?
I have a Miele C3 as the main vacuum.

              • +1

@bashar20: Open the dust bin lid and stick the nozzle directly into the bottom of the cyclone

  • These things are just too heavy then the battery starts to die and they only last five minutes before needing an hour on the charger.

  • Anyone got a shipping notification yet? I havent heard anything yet.
