MUST CHANGE REGION ON YOUR ACCOUNT TO USA + Add USA address

        • +8

You can't change your region to USA. PSN accounts are locked to their country of origin.

If you don't have one, then you would need to create a US PSN account first which is not hard at all.
Just use a different email address to your Aus PSN acc and choose USA at the first step of creating a new account.

It is easiest to create a new account here. https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/pc/login.action

Choose either Delaware or New Hampshire as your state as they have no sales tax.
Just Google anything in those states to get any random address.

To add funds you can either use an American Express card directly (this is how I do it with my Aus based Amex card) or via Amazon US.
To use Amazon US you need to have an account with a US delivery address.
They do not actually post them, they will just email the code.

          $50 PSN Card - http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Playstation-Network-Card-Online/d…

You can stack subscriptions too, so you could by this offer twice and get 2.5 years worth.

All that said Aus (Euro) PS+ is considered better than US PS+.
Here is my spreadsheet showing the free games both territories have had since the Instant Game collection started.

        • is it not possible to change region and billing now? Or does it require a new account like it always has? When I moved back to Australia I was never able to use an Aussie CC with my account because it was set up as a Taiwan account.

EDIT.. wow question answered in -19 seconds, that is fast!

  • isn't this the standard price?

    • For one year but the deal seems to be for 3 extra months as well (which is $20 for us, possibly $15 in the US)

    • Price is standard, but you can an extra 3 months for the price of the original 12 months.

      • The 3 bonus months was always part of the deal, at least in the US.

Great deal if you're on a US account. Overall I've found PAL regions (AU/NZ/Europe) has had better PS3/PSN games but so far the US has had more and better Vita/PSP games.

Like snuke said, I'm pretty sure you can't change your region on existing accounts and if you want access to this then you have to just sign up for a new US one (which is all relatively easy).

In addition to Amazon, I believe you can now add PSN funds straight to your wallet through the PSN site using PayPal. But some people have had problems with it so I think you have to make sure the region for your PayPal account is the same as your PSN account (so you can't add funds to a US PSN account from an Australian PayPal account). Those two are probably the best options since it's a 1:1 exchange (probably less since it's in USD) but there's other places that sell $50 US credit for something like $60 AUD.

On PS3 you can download the US PS+ content and any user/account on that system can use it. However, you can't do this on Vita since it only allows one account per a memory card and system at any given time. So if your main account is an Australian one and you wish to play some of the Vita games on a newly made American account, you can't - they'd be locked to your US account.

Hopefully that made sense! Just trying to add some more info :). PS+ is amazing and addition to Instant Game Content (the free games they give out) there's online storage and automatic updates!

    • Thanks for the PayPal reminder.
I have yet to get this to work, i just tried it again.
two different transactions, $5 from my Aus acc linked to my Aus Master Card, I expect this to fail as when I tried to add funds directly from my Aus MC, it would not accept the card number.
The second was $10 from another Aus account, but this has US currency in it. I expect this to work, and will report if it succeeds.

      • I just checked both of my PayPal accounts, and both transactions AUD & USD were cancelled.
I guess you must have US based PP account for this payment method to work.

  • ps plus is great and all - until you realise the 'free' games are basically just rents that expire as soon as you quit ps plus.

Waiting for p4 golden + dj max to go on sale on the us psn.

    • Correct, you can no longer play them if you are no longer a PS+ member.
If you re join at any time then you can play them again, or download any game you "purchased" for "free" while you were a member.

    • Even if you look at them as rentals, PS+ it's still pretty good for the member discounts too, and those games don't expire if your subscription does.

This week alone on the US Store, you could buy LittleBigPlanet Karting and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 for $10 each as a PS+ member, or it was $20 each for non-members.

I bought those two myself, plus another 8 games, and paid $43 all up instead of $86, because I'm PS+ member (I have PS+ on both my AU and US accounts).

    • ps plus is great and all - until you realise the 'free' games are basically just rents that expire as soon as you quit ps plus.

Most games you can beat in a few hours. Do you need to still be playing it a year from now? The games I purchase on disc I only play once. If you told me I could no longer play them a year from now, I wouldn't even care honestly.

  • i was about to purchase ps+ AU as i also want to get the Playstation All Star Royale Battle.
But when i login to HK psn, which is just under $30 AUD a year. i just hold my trigger lol

  • I have an US PSN account, will I get 15 months of PS+ if I purchase this? Or is it for new accounts only?

    • Yes, as per my post above you can stack your subscription.

      From Sony US
" And those of you who are already reaping the benefits of PlayStation Plus are in luck—you can stack your membership to take full advantage of this great offer!"

      • thank you :)

  • Suggestion for people purchasing this, wait till the beginning of a month and you will get close to 16 months of PS+.

FYI an upcoming discount on the Aus PS+ subscription. When it is relevant to post on OzB, I will.

“The new titles will be available to subscribers from 7th February 2013, from which point fans can also take advantage of a special discount of over 30% on the 90 day PlayStation Plus membership. From the 7th to the 21st February 2013, the 90 day membership will be available for AUD$13.45 (standard price AUD$19.95). Fans that already have a current PS Plus membership can still take advantage of this discount and extend their membership by stacking on top of their current membership.”

So $53.80 for 1 years worth (I know, 5 days short)
And it is actually a 32.6% discount. Not sure why Sony are selling themselves 2.6% short.
