Marshall Solar - Anyone Actually Installed?

Anyone sign up from this deal actually got installed?

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/909644

I shared with a couple friends. We signed up and Marshall kept saying their still waiting for shipment every week we chase up and they said shipment coming next week. It has been more than 2 months and still no installation date. Not only that, also no refund. It started to feel like deposit scam.

What is everyone's advice to report to officials like consumer affair Victoria or the likes for solar installers?

I got my solar from them, they are generally on the cheaper side of solar installers hence being on ozbargain, they did a decent enough job and your deal looks to be wildly popular so if you want to cancel that's understandable after almost 3 months, if you got in on the deal early enough you may be closer to getting a call.

They were basically a bunch of Indians in a van if I'm being honest, which may explain the unprofessionalism. So they honestly could have bitten off more than they could chew.

  • @AndySolar please answer

  • After an initial quote, they were incredibly persistent with their follow up….

I can't comment on Marshall Energy, but I had a quote from another company that was advertising here and I was seriously considering going ahead - they had many comments from people who had systems installed and told me they use their own installers but found that their ABN wasn't registered for GST - seems like a big red flag to me.

  • if it was a goodwe battery system ie the Lynx
Then there has been a large delay with some suppliers saying no stock till atleast end of september going into mid october.

They're customer service is terrible once they have your money.

    I had solar panels installed.

They delay installs and like most companies subcontract their installation.

I haven't had to make any claims with warranty so I cannot comment on what that process would be like.

And they will call you with other future offers - it that's a good thing or a bad thing…

Comments from my inspector that it was a good install from a compliance perspective and didn't have to check much.

But from my perspective it was done quick, and used conduit rather than hiding the cables (it wasn't as clean as it could be if that makes sense and matters to you).

What irked me as well is that they left a lot of their installation rubbish (plastic cores, cabling, boxes etc) on site and refused to answer emails and come pick up the rubbish. What was worse i set the rubbish aside for them to come back and get it and they had left food scraps in some of the boxes so after a couple weeks it wasn't pleasant.

  • I have requested refund but they not responding.I have lost all the confidence in them now tbh. Any where I can make a complaint? Anyone can recommend how to deal with this?

    • Credit Card Charge Back - 3 month delay without contact should be a decent enough reason!

I am quite surprised to see your comment, especially as I personally visited your property to discuss the installation. Please be assured this is not a scam — the GoodWe battery shortage is a genuine, industry-wide issue, check this: https://www.solarquotes.com.au/blog/huge-wait-on-battery-ins…

I apologise if our weekly updates gave the impression that we were making excuses. The reality is that we rely on updates from our suppliers, and unfortunately those expected delivery dates have been shifting.

    Your options moving forward:

    • We can keep your order in the queue and install your GoodWe battery as soon as stock arrives.

    • We can provide you with an alternative battery option that is available sooner.

    • If neither option suits you, we will process a full refund of your deposit.

Once again, I apologise for the inconvenience and thank you sincerely for your patience and trust.

  • more than 2 months and still no installation date.

This is common given the populatiry of the battery rebate scheme.

I know a mate who's an runs his own company and is an installer and there's just no batteries in the country (he deals with Sungrow batteries, as opposed to Good We).

  • With the movement in the market now your best bet is just wait, if you cancel the order you'll be back on the queue with any other installers or battery brand unless you want to pay the premium, which I don't think you will.

  • the problem is the full rebate from the govt depends on the installation date. if your install date happens after december 31. you lose 10% of the rebate

i don’t think a lot of people have clocked this…. the govt shoukd extend it due to the massive shortage but they won’t of course

  • I used these guys. Mostly good, just had some issues with my house since it was a double story. They sub-contract the work but have accountability for their work at least. overall I'd rate 7/10. Nothing special but not terrible either.

  • How much wqs the deposit btw?
