    Once you go black…

I dodn't understand the reference, care to enlighten me?

    • Tried black once because people said it had never been 1/2 price. Too oily for me. Back to red. Now black is 1/2 price and red is not lol.

Anyone got a good recipe for this in the microwave at work? Tried and had mixed success. Also please any easy upgrades or hacks to improve. Only recently just tried this for first time and found the black to be better than the standard as I can put much less of the spicy soup mix in with the black version.

Anyone got a good recipe for this in the microwave at work?

      Why specifically at work?

      • Maybe for quick cook at work, at home they will use other method

      • I was actually referring to mostly with a microwave rather than a stove top which is what i have at work. But also yes easy/quick with limited cooking utensils etc is also beneficial.

        • -2

It would help if you mentioned what you have tried when it comes to cooking noodles in the microwave.

workplace probably won't have a carton of eggs in the fridge, or a packet of ground [herb] in the pantry

I've been putting half a woolies chook (shredded) and some frozen veg through mine for a dead easy weeknight meal.

try adding a slice of cheese

      • This! Also parmesan works if you need something that's more shelf/fridge stable.

      • try adding sour cream or cream or frozen peas, frozen Asian items.

      Ingredients:

      Oil
      Fresh Basil
3 X Ramen noodle packets - Shin Ramyun Ramen Noodles 5-Pack (spicy) or Nongshim Shin Black 4 pack (not spicy)
      Egg (yolk and whites, separated)
Tomato Sauce 2 or 3 tablespoons
      Fresh Parmesan Regiano

      Process:
Heat up some oil, few tablespoons
      Add fresh basil
Add contents of ramen vegetable pack and ramen flavouring, fry it up
Add tomoato sauce, let it simmer
Add 2 cups of water and bring to boil

In a separate bowl, add 1 egg yolk, separate white from yolk. (Keep white for later)
Add Parmigiano regiano cheese to the egg yolk and mix thoroughly.

Broth should have come to a nice little simmer
Add 3 X packs of noodles and cook (medium high heat), but dont overcook noodles, make them super aldente

When the noodles are almost cooked, lower the heat
Add a bit of the broth to the egg yolk and cheese and mix quickly, so it doesnt curdle (set this aside)
Add egg whites to soup borth, and mix until the egg white is set and bring to boil
Once egg white is set, add the egg yolk mixture
When simmering, add 1 clove of grated garlic, more parmegian cheese.

To finish - add olive oil, butter, more fresh basil.
Add salt and pepper to taste.

      Additional:
Add grilled meat and or soft boiled eggs.

Hey here's my lunchroom version using boiling water, in case you're interested:
      1 beaten egg
      1 tbsp crunchy peanut butter
1 soup mixes and veges (from nongshim packet)
      All into glass container.
Add small amount of boiling water to mix/begin cooking egg.

      Add noodles.
      Add 500ml boiling water.
Cover container and leave for a few minutes.
Mix noodles and soup mix around a bit.
Add/on side: leftover roast chicken or a tin of tuna (I like aldi ginger and soy, or garlic and chilli).

      Enjoy!

    • Look up "Dannygrubs" on youtube and look at his shorts videos. He has a lot of videos with chefs that upgrade his ramen to 5-star.

In a deep bowl - place noodles and packet mix

hot/boiling water 2-3cm above the noodle cake line

      Microwave 3 mins uncovered
mix/flip the noodle cake. Add a bit more water if its too dry looking
      Microwave another 3 mins uncovered.

at this point, the contents will be really hot. Gently crack a raw egg in the middle, cover with noodles, add a slice of processed cheese and cover the bowl with a plate for 5 mins.

egg should be just set, and cheese would have melted to produce a creamy sauce (note not a soup because of the starches in the noodles and the water). if you want, you can add kim chi or baby spinach for a healthier kick

I love having these at work for smoko. I just add a can of tuna and a boiled egg after I’ve made the noodles in the microwave.

Nothing wrong with MSG. It's actually really yum, adds much more savoury flavour than regular table salt.

  • Finally bought and this time have stock near me.

    • Yeah sold out near me but they restocked it pretty quick. Had to go in 2 days later to get a few packets.
