It was $265 with free Mr Beast chocolate, this is hardly a good price tbh.

grey import again no Australia warranty, wouldn't risk it.

I thought you can always claim warranty from Amazon Australia for such purchases…..!!!!

https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/help/customer/display.html?node…
These are the terms attached to US based items.
"Manufacturer warranties may not apply in Australia and manufacturer service options may not be available in Australia. You are responsible for reviewing available product information to ensure that the International Product you are purchasing meets your needs and expectations.
When purchasing International Products, you acknowledge that the sale occurs outside of Australia and that you are importing the products for your personal use, which will be reflected on customs documentation. You will be listed as the importer of record for customs purposes. "
Bit shady - yes… legal - yes.

Manufacturer warranties may not apply
But seller warranty will.

@Azro: Not if the seller is in the united states. You're effectively using Amazon like ebay for US goods.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO AUSTRALIAN CUSTOMERS
Nothing in these Conditions of Sale is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any non-excludable right or remedy you have under law including the Australian Consumer Law. Any disclaimer, exclusion, or limitation as provided for in these Conditions of Sale applies to the full extent permitted by law and subject to any non-excludable right or remedy.ACL still applies to sellers (but not manufacturers).

@Azro: In this case Amazon AU isn't the seller though afaik. The item is sold by Amazon US and you act as the importer, Amazon AU is just acting like a marketplace much like eBay.
I would only trust ACL being honoured for items that explicitly say they're sold by/despatched by Amazon AU.

@twister292: Probably debatable, but debatable ACL coverage is not as reassuring as Australian manufacturer warranty + guaranteed ACL coverage.
Amazon may be ok generally, but do we want to put it to the test in 3 or 4 years time if this dies? Especially when they have published terms and conditions, quoted above, which are potentially to try and limit their legal liability. Under ACL the reasonable life of an SSD at this price may be deemed 2 years for all I know.
Probs worth it if it's cheap… But this is more expensive than local stock + 3rd party heatsink…

@twister292: The buyer enters into a contract with Amazon Australia, not Amazon US. It is illegal to contract away statutory rights under Australian law.

I don't get it

These were 335 a few weeks ago too.
Edit
Ohhhh with heat sink! Sorry, too many late nights
Better to buy without a heatsink and get an $8 jeyi one off AliExpress

232L TLC = 2600mb/s on cache exhaustion
much faster than 990 Pro (actual ~1400mb/s) in seq
faster than sn850x (actual 1600mb/s) in seq
lower power and cooler than both, 6w vs 7w and 10w load respectively
higher endurance than both by about 20%
excellent drive

I'd still get local nm790 without heatsink for $349 and chuck it in a $9 heatsink instead of dealing with with grey imports.
Also klevv cras c910 is $299

I bought the one without heatsink recently, does heatsink make a big difference? Also I'm capped at PCI Gen 3 speeds because of my mobo

See what temps the drive is reporting and decide for yourself.
My sn850x in a small case was reporting about 65-70° under load iirc. Added an $8 jeyi heatsink and now sits around 45° under load.
70° is probably still fine, but for $8 I figure why not

Yep, why you would purchase from the US for this price I do not know… Always seem to be available for significantly cheaper locally (though sans heatsink).

Wonder how reliable that klevv c910 is

Bruh…local price + a heatsink is cheaper
I need some beer and find a place to cry
carn Chris, we need a deal, im waiting on buying one of these until we get a good deal! need a 4TB drive!

Hey buddy, wafers just went up another 20%. Most brands still have stock for Q4, so you’ll see some deals before year’s end — I’ll run some too, but think of it as the “last dance.” By late Q1 2026, prices will climb fast.
Back in 2023 you could still grab 4TB for $299 or even less, in 2024 around $325 with freebies. This year the best is about $349 give or take 5 bucks to 10 bucks, and next year expect closer to $379 depending on exchange rates.
Big brands aren’t really focused on affordability anymore, and unless something huge changes, prices will just keep going up.With foundry capacity lagging and suppliers preferring big AI contracts over retail, SSD prices are heading the same way as GPUs. If you see a decent deal between now and the end of the year, it’s worth grabbing — you won’t regret it through 2026.
Not saying it for Lexar, if you see any brands doing great deals and you think it meets your needs, just grab it.
I will do my best, but can't really amaze anyone or repeat last year's price.
Thanks for the heads up. Sounds like I should have jumped at the 335 a few months ago
Good thing is storage isn't a necessity of life, I can get by with what I have lucky for the next year most likely.
But would be nice to get one more drive, for, funnily enough, running llms and spares.
I just can't believe how expensive all storage has gotten… Including 3.5 magnetic drives.
Dollars per tb really not coming down in years. If anything is going up.

Can I remove the heat sink from this? Going install in my laptop. I don't think it's required right?

Lol it's 450 everywhere else without heatsink.
330 at mwave, why would you buy this one, if you didn't want the heatsink
as wisc said, you can buy one without heatsink locally.
But to answer your question, yes you can, it's few screws.
But for warranty purpose please don't throw away the heatsink, you will need to restore it to original form to do warranty.

Yeah shared here so many times around the same price.
