Peters Connoisseur Ice Cream - Two New Flavours

There are two new flavours of Connoisseur ice creams on their web page.

1L Pistachio tub
4x90ml Almond Biscotti sticks

So far, I can only see them listed online at Woolworths, to be stocked in the next few days.

Edit: some superior supermarket substitutes
Destination Italy Pistachio & Van Gelato for $22/L
Messina Gelato Pistachio Praline for $31/L

Biscotti and matcha must be the 2 most overused flavouring atm

Good to see some Pistachio in there !

Water, Skim Milk (Concentrate or Solids), Glucose
Syrup, Sugar, Coconut Oil, Pistachio (2.5%),
Vegetable Origin Emulsifier (471), Flavour, Colours
    (150d, 141), Vegetable Gums (412, 410), Salt.

    only 2.5% lol

    • I dunno man. If I ate 2kg of pistachio then I’d be 2.5% pistachio so it seems like a lot

yeah but the biscotti one contains no biscottis at all. I know prices have gone up because of the drought in Italy reducing the number of pods produced by the biscotti trees, and the biscotti harverster union strike, but surely a few should be in every stick. Scam.

  • Has water always been the main ingredient in Connoisseur? Disappointing either way.

    • It is water mixed with milk powder. Depending on the ratio, you can consider it as milk or cream.

    • Nope

      Maybe coz 'gelato'?

  • This is nuts !!!

    • I don't know how you do it, jv. Juggling jobs as a quality control officer in a chicken nappy factory and another as an underwear model, you still find the time to post comments of unrivaled quantity and quality.

        and fact

  • Thanks will grab a pistachio one when available

    • Is Thanks a person's name?

    • You ever eat the whole 1L tub on one go?

  • Connoisseur has too many unnecessary ingredients and is really not premium. Shouldn't need anything more than milk, cream, flavour and sugar. I made pistachio ice cream last summer and it was much better than any store bought stuff. Sometimes works out cheaper too because I buy cream/milk at 80%+ off, but even if you pay full price it is worth it for the superior taste.

Why would they go to the effort of putting in unnecessary ingredients? Do you understand what emulsifiers and vegetables gums do for ice creams?

  • Not Peter's, Peters.
