Cooling off Period 10-Business Day - Energy Plan

I am reading that:

"after signing an electricity plan, there’s a 10-business day cooling-off period. It starts from the day you receive the contract details from the retailer. If you decide to cancel during this time, you just need to let the retailer know - and you won’t be charged any fees or penalties. "

I currently have a good energy deal with ORG, but it's set to expire in 12 days.

AGL is now offering a more attractive plan, including a $75 welcome credit - which I’d really like to take advantage of before it's withdrawn.

Based on my previous experience with a smart meter, the transfer process tends to happen quickly - usually within 3 business days - even though the cooling-off period is 10 days.

How can I manage this situation so I don’t miss out on AGL’s $75 credit, while still making full use of the remaining contract benefits with ORG before it ends?

Just complete the transfer back to AGL

  • The cooling off period is irrelevant to your situation.

The AGL benefits will apply based on when you sign up. As you want to stay with ORG for another 11 days, just sign up to AGL in 11 days' time.

If you have reason to believe that AGL will pull their offer before 11 days are up, then wait as long as you are willing to risk it.
